Dry Ice Hash Storage

RG420

New member
Mornin'. Yesterday I made a bunch of dry ice hash with several different strains (reducing onhand stock). Came out great! Question, how do you store your dry ice hash? Just form it into a ball, or leave in current form (kief), or compress and heat (if this method, pls let me know how long you heat and at what temp. Thx!). I've done all methods. When using compression and heating I use a bee pollen press. Looking for what will give me some longevity and, more importantly, avoiding mold. Thanks!

Hi RG420 , I push my bubble hash through a kitchen strainer sieve to produce hash crumbles on a sheet of cardboard which then goes into the freezer to freeze dry for a few days. The dried hash stays in the freezer in a capped Ball Jar until it is used. No chance of mold and the crumbles literally melt in your hand when you want to form up a chunk to smoke.

If you want a beautiful tincture, drop a gram of your decarbed kief into an ounce of cold Everclear per QWET style extraction! You can store that forever in a amber dropper bottle.

Thanks! I was doing it way, but finally picked up the bubble bags. I can't get everclear in my state, unfortunately. Have not tried tinctures, but definitely interested in trying.

My state doesn't sell the 190 everclear either RG420 had to take a road trip to an adjoining state to get it so I bought a whole case hoping to only have to do that ever few years.

2 adjoining states within 2-3 hours are no go. Already checked, lol. Will have to check the longer drives I guess.

I keep it in an airtight container in a cool dark place. Since it's dry ice hash moisture should not be a problem. I like to keep it as keif as it burns easier. I have some that's 2 years old and still fire.

What Type of Alcohol Should You Use?
Any high-proof (190-proof or higher) alcohol that is meant for human consumption will work. Although isopropyl alcohol can be used for topical applications, we recommend using food-grade alcohol even in that case. In other words, please don’t use isopropyl alcohol for this tutorial! You can use any 190-proof (or higher) alcohol such as:

Ethanol
Rectified/Neutral spirits:
Everclear
Spirytus (high-proof polish vodka)
Grape Alcohol
You can legally get your hands on at least one of these options in all 50 states in the US, plus Canada, UK, and Australia. Bacardi 151 is available in most places and it has a pretty high alcohol content (151-proof), but it should only be used as a worst-case option.

Awesome, thanks. I actually had some that did mold 2 batches ago in a sealed container. That's what drove this question. Not wanting to lose any more of this!
