Does this seem like it would make a good DIY carbon filter fan?

I purchased these fans.

Planning to take a 3 or 5 gallon bucket and purchase 2 of these.

The idea will be to put a mesh pot on each side of the bucket and then fill it up with activated carbon pellets and wrap it with pantyhose or something. Then put the fan either on the top or bottom of the pot (not sure which is best, maybe below and pull thru?) Once there is a fan on each side of the bucket the large 200 cfm exhaust fan will be in the middle with another layer of carbon filter. The idea will be to just put this in the main. This would be on a timer running in the main room the grow closet is located in.

The odor only becomes an issue when the AC is running a bit during the second half of flowering. Could simply having this in the main room of the closet possibly be enough to hold the odor back? Any of you have a really good air purifier in the main room of a grow closet and it works ok?

On paper I do not see a reason it would not work, the cflm matches or is close to the cfm of the 4 inch I currently run. Not sure what your total cost would be, if you can home grow it, then I would definitely rig this up. Its logical to do so.
If you have to buy everything, I will stick with the 4 incher I have today. (Very smal grow)

I really want to get a typical scrubber and set it up proper, but I also want to avoid messing with the house as much as possible. It will require me to first replace the entire door because right now I just leave it cracked open with 2 fans blowing in and different heights and then another fan inside about 3.5-4 up on the 2ft wall (2x4x8 space) blowing across the canopy. The temps and humidity stay in ideal ranges and the first real grow finished a few weeks ago and it came out absolutely amazing. Three medium size plants ended up with about 2.5oz.

So the door needs to be replaced with a zipper door or some sort of cheap replacement so that I can install an intake fan so it stays cool while sealed. The scrubber is pointless if the door is cracked open right? There is no exhaust in my setup, the air just exits via the top half of the cracked open door. The first fan is 4 inch ground level blowing air between the pots and the other is 2ft high very strong 8 inch blowing in to strengthen stems. Despite no exhaust temps are between 72-77 / RH 40-50 90% of the time. The AC in the main room is closed off in a way that blows cold air towards the closet.

Total cost is not much less than just buying a fan / scrubber combo (about 75$ plus activated carbon pellets cost which isn't that much, but I will purchase in bulk to save). I like the flexibility because it can be tested out in the main room (pulling air from 2 sides should help cover the main room better) and if the odor is still getting thru I can modify it to a more traditional system and go change the door and all of this other stuff I was trying to avoid.
