Do you use tap water?

Hey guys , does anyone here use tap water? I spend over 100$ a month at least on distilled and spring water. This summer I’ve used the distilled water from my portable ac which has helped but we only get 2-3 months of summer where i live. I can’t afford a R.O system right now and my tap has .7 fluoride. Fluoride, I’ve read is toxic to weed. I know i can “experiment” And try tap but I’m not a fan of being wasteful. Soo who here grows with fluoride tap water?

Rule of thumb, if you can drink it, ok for plants. 0.7mg/L is normal. Distilled and RO water is not necessary unless you have very hard water and are trying to bring down the EC. Water that is condensed from an AC or dehumidifier may be contaminated with lead or other metals. Some people like to let the water sit for 24 hours to allow the chlorine to evaporate. If they use chloramine, it will not come out so easily. Your water supplier should be able to provide you with a free water analysis report.

hey Amp whats up, last year i did what your doing and this year i'm doing tap. if anything i think the tap is better because of the minerals in it. what i read here and have been doing is to let the water sit in a container 24hrs b-4 using it to kill the flouride. i'm retired and can't afford 100 bucks 4 water either. i,m pretty sure if you let it sit you'll be fine. try looking thru the back GWE articles that may be where i read that.

Where are you? How far from the nearest nuclear power plant? But as has been said already if you can drink it then it's fine
If you can drink it and not make a "AUG" face after then its ok, If you live in the LA area use Sparklets or Arrowhead., Unless you live in South Pasadena they have their own wells

I use tap water. Have never used anything else. After getting the clean water bug for my plants I was hot to trot for an RO system or some way to control the cleanliness of the water I was giving my girls. But I got over that mainly because of cost and then I got high. I also use an aquarium de-chlorinator. Never an issue. I've been growing since 2019 and am just about to start my second bottle of the stuff.

The city water where I live is hard with a resting EC of .36. That's all I know about it. I do distill water for the humidifiers. The one I use cost $99.

GREAT! Thank you! My concern was the fluoride but i guess it’s not a big deal then huh? THANK YOU, I’m soo glad i asked

I do use a battery powered water pump to water them from a bucket but that’s not what you were referring to right?

Thank you for your help ductwizard! I have read that on many sites ( leaving it out) they only mentioned it removed the chlorine but I’m going to take the advice from my favorite experts and I’m going to tap. You guys are the best!

I use tap water from a garden hose, PH 7.1 last time I tested it. Chloramine is what my system uses and it will not evaporate out, a bit of acid from lemons, vitamin C, sulfuric acid etc. will kill it. I dont bother. Pres Pumpkin Head is going to remove fluoride from tap water, I dont worry with that either. What do you think is it stunted? (see pic)

Hey, Amp.
I have grown great weed outdoors, in a home greenhouse, 50/50 coco/perlite, fabric pots since AZ became legal. All with tap water!
Local Phoenix water is full of minerals and pH varies up to 8.5.

I believe we get too wrapped up in the "perfect" way to grow
cannabis. This should be FUN, not worry. If you are not a commercial grower, don't fret about it. I pH my nutrient mix (General Hydro Trio + CalMagic) to 5.5 to 6.5. Dissolved chlorine and flourides not an issue. My 6 to 12 plants are happy, healthy, no bugs, no mold. I never bother to check ppm because it is always high. Just let 'em grow.

The water is simply a nutrient delivery medium. The plants drink what I drink. Your best bet for a successful grow is high quality seed genetics. Choose a variety that will thrive in your grow set up. After a few successful harvests, you will learn what your plants need and when.
