Do I really need to exhaust outside the growing room?

Hey guys,

I have a grow tent and currently it's impossible for me to exhaust outside the window or to another room. My question today is, do I really need to exhaust outside the growing room? What are the cons of having my exhausted air in the same room as the grow tent? I open my windows once a day for 1-2 hours to let fresh air come in.

If you have central heat/ac in the room you should be fine. If it's completely closed off then you will be having humidity issues even with a small tent.

Depends on how big the light is. I have no problem with less than 200w in a veg tent in my bedroom. I do have central AC. Without the AC then temps will be in the 80fs maybe.

My tent is in the garage and I exhaust into the garage with a carbon filter. Works fine with no negative issues.

I exhaust filtered air from the grow tent into the room because I want to keep the heat this winter. But I have another duct fan that can exhaust the room air outside and I turn that on if the temp or humidity gets too high.

Mostly what I've noticed is that grow tent humidity spikes when the lights go out so I turn the tent exhaust from low to high during that time frame.

I have two tents in the same room. They both exhaust into that same room. It's about a 16x14 spare bedroom on it's own HVAC zone. The exhaust from both tents will raise the humidity in the lung room relatively quickly but it's manageable. The stand alone HVAC zone helps as well. Sometime I have to add humidity to the tents but mostly it's dehumidifying the lung room that helps with the RH inside the tents. I've not ever had my tent(s) exhaust to the outside.

If you don't you will need to run a room dehumidifier to remove the water that the plants put in the atmosphere.

Good question! I grow in my basement and I've vented into my living room (one floor above) as well as venting right back into the basement. It all depends on what the conditions in the room are. In order to manage temps/humidity, you have to control the environment that your tent is in. If your temps/humidity are in range, then no worries. (Well, really, there are never any worries afterall, we're growing cannabis, not performing brain surgery.) If your temps/humidity are not where you want them and you can't vent to another room, outdoors, etc then all you need to do is manage the temp/humidity in your room. Usually a dehumidifier will do the trick of keeping the humidity in check.

I use LEDs (2x ES 180v3 in a 4x4 tent) and being in a basement, it's usually cooler anyways so heat isn't usually a problem. However this summer, it got warm down there with the dehumidifiers running non-stop which is why I vented into the living room. This helped with both temperature and humidity control. In the winter, I vent directly into the basement since humidity isn't usually a problem but it's cool down there so in addition to running a little heater, the heat exhausted from the tent helps to keep the temp warmer.

The big thing to remember is that all you really need to do is manage the temps/humidity regardless of where you vent. You can use that exhaust air to your advantage when necessary, or you can vent it out. If you can't vent it out, then all you need to do is manage it with dehumidifiers, AC as necessary.
