I’m looking for info from the experts soo i came here… with 2 vivosun 1000 full spectrum with dimmable feature , should i leave it at the top of the tent 4x4x6 at all stages? I’m in flowering now and have it at the top at 100%. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

I don't get the light dimming thing. It's in lots of tutorials and lots of folk do it, but I just don't get it.
If anything, go with the maximum distance the manufacturer recommends and let the light grow to the minimum or median.

Use the manufacturers recommendations for height from canopy. start there. Use a PAR meter to check light dispersion. Photone is free. Photobio Phantom is what I use. The dimmer is useful to keep from burning your buds. Sometimes one runs out of grow space. It's the light spectrum that's most important. And watch your plants. They'll tell you if they're getting too much light.

Haha yes DD I'll put my 2 cents in, I think the dimmer would be useful if you had restrictions on height and had to use the dimmer at seedling stage slowly turning it up as the plant grows. Although you do get best spread with the light on max and as high as you can go with keeping the right ppfd at the canopy.

2 1000 watt lights in a 4 ft x4 ft x 6ft tent?

I have an HLG 360 Elite. I've had plants grow as close as 8" without issue. A buddy was doing HPS in his closet and had plants grow past the lights. What's the secret, maybe? Maybe fans?
Dim if an issue arises or if you know your light is too bright going in. But dimming for prophylaxis, nah. That's prophylaxis for paranoia.

If your vivosun is a VS1000E it's a 100 watt board. You have 2 so your running 200 watts from the wall, maybe. 18-24 inches above canopy.

DabberDog hey dawg can’t remember if I’ve told you this before, I have a HLG 360 Elite. I bought the kit. It didn’t come
with a dimmer. :joy:
I don’t use it anymore. It grew good dope though.

I remember you (or someone) having one and perhaps turning me on to the one I have.
Getting nervous about how much longer it'll last. I got it with one of the Covid checks.

No E just VS 1000 , i Think the only difference between E and. No E is the dimmer. Ty for the advise

Hey wayzee , yes 2 VS1000 is that too much light or not enough? Manufacturer and reviews claim one light only covers a 2x2 area.

I misread your first post I think. Thought it said 1000w. I'd download a decent ppfd meter or buy one of you can. Run the lights on full power and either lower or raise light to get the appropriate PPFD.

Hey guys thanks for your insight, i just bought a SE3000 to bring my 4x4 space up to 500 watts total .. can’t wait to see the results

Asked a question but finally found the answer, couldn’t delete the question

I usually keep my lights at the top of the tent or room and dim/lower them to the recommended PPFD / DLI, with a meter app I downloaded to my phone. It seems to work great. Photone is the name of the app
