Difference of maturity on same plant

Have chocolate auto plant. Very big buds, however the top of plant looks ready but lower section of plant still has straight hairs and trichromes are crystal clear. Seems like top buds are restricting sunlight from getting to lower section. Can I safely remove top portion to let bottom get more sun? THX

Sounds like an incremental harvest. I do it as do a number of posters here. Good luck. Just go by the color of the tri's and cut away.
