Diatomaceous earth

Has anyone here ever used Diatomaceous Earth for bug control in your grow? I've been using it to get rid of Thrips and I will use it from now on as a preventive maintenance. Just blow it on top of the soil and on a microscopic level it will cut the bugs so that they dehydrate and die. We talking microscopic bugs here. It is a cheap and organic way to keep the little buggers at bay.

I just finished dusting my tent's this morning and I also amend my soil (Calcium and Silica- but I don't think it breaks down-well).
I was at a con which promoted soil amending for pests- but that is not the case, as it needs to stay dry and undisturbed to be effective for bugs.

I have used it often for fungus gnat control, and it works! Still like to have lots of yellow sticky traps also. 🌻

I have used it outdoors and works pretty well. Gotta be careful not to put too much at the time and works better if you use it around the garden to set up "borders" so insects don't come near the plant

I use it for outdoor plants and around the house for general pest control. As it's not a poison, I don't believe the bugs can adapt to it. This said, when I had a bad spider mite infestation in my indoor tent just using DE wasn't enough to control those little buggers (I tried everything and in the end mighty wash is what worked best).

I also use Spinosat ie Captain Jack's Dead Bug.
