I duct taped cloth over the side of the opening the fan was not: a valve. If you can vent to a side of the tent where there is no light (a few inches away from a wall) that helps a lot.
Remember, that little exhaust fan only needs to be on when the tent is closed with the light off. It will do nothing to a lit tent.
 
I once used activated carbon filter pads, cut to size and doubled up (mine were thin), duct taped to the air intake vent. It blocked a little light and filtered the air a bit going in. Although the tape I was using kept ripping off the tent. Probably too much suction; I think I needed to open another vent.
It sounds like you're flowering outside the tent and vegging inside it. You could have your air intake face away from you flowering plants and put something opaque over to block the light a bit, but still have free air flow.
Also I think I would flower inside the tent and veg outside personally. That way you can have light on 24/7 in your shed without disturbing your precious girls. But your tent is not big enough for that.

I'm thinking of putting the photo in the tent at 12/12 and everything else outside. Am I correct in believing that my autos can stay at 18/6 and still flower? THe purple chemdawg photo is not too tall and I believe it would do well in the tent by itself.
 
I found 18/6 gives better results than 12/12 for autos. And the biggie, you do not need to provide 100% darkness for flowering autos like you do photoperiod and feminized! Head to GWE main and search 'auto lights.'
The thing about your 4" fan is you need to make sure to not block the air as much as possible or you will overtax your fan and it will not be as efficient.
 
Forgot some were autos. That sounds like a great plan. I haven't had chemdawg in a while. Never tried purple chemdawg.
 
So we're 13 weeks along. Been giving nutes on the reg, yet my girls are looking very spindly. I'm blaming my neglect/ignorance during their formative stage. Any suggestions for fattening up?

Well earlier in veg you could have trained (e.g. LST, supercropping, topping...) your plant to widen up the canopy. With the natural Christmas tree shape you'll have to just add support for when the buds make it top heavy, depending on how fatty you make the colas.

Do you have more fans on them? Getting good air on them can strengthen up the stems. Plus you'll want really good airflow on the buds to prevent rot.

These are autos. I was told to not top them. Was someone steering me wrong? They do have a fan on them.
 
Damn I can't keep track of which plant is auto/photo. Yeah generally autos don't veg for 13 weeks, so there isn't time for training. I don't know crap about growing autos, so not sure what would prolong switch to flower.
 
I harvested a White Widow auto and didn't top/train that. But I did only get a half ounce off it. I suppose I could have gotten more. I was under the impression that the autos just flower automatically, like the name implies, but I guess I have some learning to do.
 
Big update. So last week, I figured I had nothing to lose except some plants that I neglected in their early stages, so I trimmed some excess fan leaves on my girls that are flowering. I'm hoping to get some chunkage happening. THey don't seem to be responding. My Autos are in their 13th week and the buds are weak af. My photo is starting her 15th week today. I see some red stems and some yellowing leaves on her so I've been giving her a cal-mag supplement and got rid of some of her big leaves too. She and one of the auto are in the tent for some 12/12. Her buds suck as well. I topped her once when she was young but didn't bother with pruning. AND to top it all off, I was attempting to LST her auto tentmate and broke of the very top cola. SO I stuck the top in some rooting hormone and coco/perl/verm and hope for the best. Just when I thought it wasn't possible to fuck things up more.....

I also have a 7 week auto that I'm LST . It's about 8"-9". Is that normal? All these tutorials are saying autos take three months to mature, but my buds are so lame. I'm feeding them all the time.
 
Your early days of flower but looking closely at them the node spacing appears to be on the larger side which typically means low light levels and possibly not enough air movement.

I'd sort your nutes first though. Careful with calmag once in flower, it can easily stuff your buds if you give too much or too long after flowering starts.
 
There are now autos that finish in less than 60 days, and others that go 120+, some that get only 18" tall with others 48"+
 
Dont expect much from an auto clone, it can be done but you cant turn her clock back, maybe set it back 2 weeks (or so) due to shock. It can be and a learning thing, good luck!
 
If 7-week is an auto, I am an auto. Or 7-week is an auto that forgot it is an auto. Topping will not keep your plant from flowering.
Whatever the case, iff all things are equal, bum seed.
