dehumidifiers

I have an old dehumidifier I use for my basement. It's kinda questionable when it comes to cleanliness. If I would have to use it during flowering I would have to do some serious cleaning to it. New dehumidifiers are expensive, although I have seen mini 4 - pint sized units that run around $50. Would this be sufficient if I were to empty it every day?

I didn't know they made dehumidifiers that small. I am going to look into that.

The smallest I could find looking around at the different hardware/ home improve stores was 30 pint. It does a great job without continuously emptying, BUT it does put out a lot of heat.

We don't use it at night since the tent is all closed up and would trap all that heat. We run it during light hours and it keeps humidity around 35%. I think Hubby empties about once every other day.
 
Yeah I have a bigger one like that too. I'm just worried to put it in while they flower since it's so used and dirty. I don't want to bring contaminants into the tent while trying to prevent them at the same time. I could take it apart and sanitize all the parts lol

I don't blame you. We have an old and mangy one we use in basement.

I see no reason why cat litter wouldn't work. Some brands are really good at absorbing moisture from surrounding air. Use about 4 to 6 cups into a shallow container Perhaps a lid with holes to avoid accidentally spilling. A shoebox would work great. Put about six or eight 1/2 holes in lid. Change about one every week.

I have a friend who uses this in her small pantry because she has a humidity problem there.
 
Calcium chloride rock salt.....look into it.

I have panty house filled with it hanging in corner off my tent....it brought number down a bit.

When my small dehu gets here I will remove rock salt
 
Hello all....newbie, glad to be about. I'm looking for some help in the dehumidifier department myself. I live in a damp environment and have a small tent in a decent sized room. I'm running 1 300W LED....the tent heats up enough to need a "open" system into the room. Running a small dehumidifier in the tent wont help as it vents from room. So i run a larger dehumidifier in the room but it heats up the room.....luckily colder weather is on the way but it will be wetter....thoughts? Suggestions?Hello all....newbie, glad to be about.
