Defoliate this late in flower?

I'm in week 4 or 5 of flower (6 wks from light switch). Can I, should I, take more fan leaves on top this late? A lot of bud sites are heavily shaded. Can't even see all bud sites.

Oh yea those are busy. The earlier in flower you can pluck leaves the better. The more late u do it the more it stresses the plants out. I would clean up but only take what is shadowing the bud

I know in the tutorial it says to stop taking leaves after week 3 because it can stunt bud growth, but I also know it says you want to avoid any big fan leaves covering your buds sites :) That seems like a tough decision! I'm not sure whether you should remove any leaves but I just want to say that from my point of view your plant looks great

Okay, I cleaned her up a bit. Looks much better to me. Buds diffently getting more light. She has always responded dramatically to trimming in the past so we shall see. No need for weed wacker, King. I prefer to call it "strategic defoliation"! 😆

I have defoliated her 5 times now. She has always responded robustly! I even thinned secondary colas that wouldn't do much but can now see I should have kept a closer look on other secondary colas that have burst onto the scene!

Sorry Nugs, it was you I meant to respond to with my weed wacker comment! 😎 Everything I have read about defoliating says it's for experienced growers. I've had a couple of successful indoor grows but still learning with each grow. A lot of it seems to be common sense but as I only grow one plant at a time, for personal use, one hiccup would be bad!
