Darkness before harvest

Let's all grow the same strain! Whoever grows the dankest is the winner and gets to write the next article ;)
I mean serious, sounds like a legit experiment. Let's all do what we can do with the same genetics and report back in 4 months

Will take some planning to get everyone who's in setup. There are so many variables to account for. I would be interested to see who's setup works best for what strain was chosen. If we found some serious players I have quite a few pineapple Express seeds from g13 labs. Would wanna trade of course, not just gonna give these ones away.

I am interested, but the timing would have to work and that might mean Fall for me. We'd want to all start at the same time, right? (would make it more fun, contribute to one shared journal...) - could judge speed and yield winner pretty easily, but not sure how to evaluate "dankest".

I would do it too!
We could all order separately from Nirvana seeds and get the same strain. Or use a different seed bank.
This would keep it "fair" and safe I think. Plenty of people order seeds online (but I never have).

Wow, seeing the same strain in the same age by different growers would be enjoyable.

As for dankness, well I guess we can pool money on a road trip for Nebula to come collect or try all our samples or buy her some plane tickets to come have a smoke sesh with each one of us!

KingKush I love it... This probably deserves its own thread! Your idea, so...
Agree with each ordering same seeds. Need to think through other parameters... We all germinate the same day? should we plan to flip the same day? How many plants? Maybe we could each run the same two different strains? Disclosure agreements... and start date. I'd like to start in August... I realize that is a ways, but we do need some time.

Campesino RosettaStoned

Oh No! This means we have to agree upon some strains yikes!
This whole thread has been about darkness at harvest so this is something we must all strive to do- Leave some plants in the dark and let some finish with the lights.

I would even use whatever nutes but I will stick to soil for now. I feel if we grow the same strain with similar nutes and training, then we can judge mediums & environments against each other and have multiple witness testimonies about this "darkness before harvest"

Okay first thing to research friends is which strain or two would you like to try. I'll start with Nirvana seeds because Nebula is a fan and she doesn't steer us wrong.

Cheers!
K.K.

Dont quote me but i believe the nebula strain is just a coincidence and is not connected with our nebulahaze.

My Inventory, in case you want to select one/two of these. All were acquired through Seedsman (Breeder)
Blueberry (seedsman)
White Widow (Seedsman)
Caramel Kush (00Seeds)
Critical (seedsman)
Shining Silver Haze (Royal Queen Seeds)
Power Africa Fast (Seedsman)
I also have Jack Herrer, but it would not be appropriate for this as there are several phenotypes. It would be best to choose a stable strain. White Widow and Blueberry are probably the best options from my stock.
Willing to acquire additional seeds, but figured we might as well start with accounting for current inventory

Yea I am open to receiving but removing that layer of obligation from one of us might be healthier. Do you really want to send out packets of seeds to multiple people at the same time? A lot of burden for only one to bear. But that's up to the sender, hence the reason I gently suggested a common seed bank.

Leaving it sourced from a seedbank will keep it public and a community experiment for others to join or repeat. Just buy your beans and follow one of our styles from start to finish?

A closed group, or one where we got seeds from a one time source, would provide more unity and allow for predictable interactions among us members, thus ensuring the longevity and fruition of the original objectives, and probably lead to more enriching relationships.

I could go either way but am leaning towards a closed group grow (which you could still follow our styles with similar or different strains)

How many do we want to try? This might impact plans too. My space is big so like 8-10 plants is a full bloom. Even if some have to do less I think I would like to go for a full run to have more examples or potential experiments.

* EDIT: ramblings of a madman. Didn't see Camp's post above yet. Just saw the below post. Realized "duh, that's way simpler"

I can run 6 plants in my 4x4.
I would do 3 each if we choose 2 strains or 2 each of 3 strains.
I think we set germination date and possibly flip date but let each grower run their grow as they see fit. Whatever training, nutes, etc. with full disclosure. But I'd also be willing to all train the same (Manifolds FTW). I think using different nutes, mediums, and lights is almost mandatory and pretty much what we are testing (aside from skill and other established variables (like darkness).
Judge speed overall and Yield per watt? Dankness... still thinking about that...
Is the idea to harvest one at end of normal dark cycle and one at end of extended dark? what, 48 hours? I'd be happy with that - not really happy to harvest during or after light cycle though.

Waltermelon I'm with you. I'm going to try it on my next harvest too, split test. I will photograph, harvest some, put her in the dark for 36hours and photograph and cut some more.

I don't think your gonna see, that much of a difference, between them. The ones in the dark will look like they got more trichs, but there want be a big sudden giant explosion of trichs by keep in them in the dark either. At least thats my experience from over the years, of keeping them in the dark, but I will continue to keep them in the dark ,
