Dark days

What does 3 days darkness before the chop do for the buds & how important is it?

It suppose to increase Trichome production, but I havn't proved it to myself yet.

I've tried it . In my opinion it didn't do anything. Time better spent hanging and drying or bagging and drying.

I'm not going to do it when I harvest this next batch. I have done it since I started indoor and only 48hrs but really not seeing anything different JDU. I'm just gonna chop and trim and hang this round. I'll let it dry in the tent from their last flush pull them out cut do a trim and hang them. Saves me 2 days waiting. We need weed LOL

Yeah, I'm just gonna give em one more heavy molasses drink when they dry out from the flush- dry em again & chop.

3 days is excessive. I give 24 hours of darkness to use up any stored energy.

  JohnEmad is correct. This might be one those traditionally held myths. I must confess I do it every time before harvest. Supposed to increase resin production, but wouldn't more light be better?   Id love to give a fancy biological answer. But im lazy today. Put it simply. Cannabis has no long term photosynthate storage. Only transitory starch which is biologically clocked for just less than duration of the dark phase. In other words. No light, no cannabinoid biosynthesis.

I remember that comment now. So common sense that they need all the light they can get (less the obvious 12hrs sleep of course) rings true if I understood. Now drying them out 2 or 3 days past time to water makes sense though.
