SOIL Curious About Flowering Stage Particularly Darkness Threshold

Doing my first ever indoor grow and I’m curious about the requirements and timing to enter flowering by timing I mean when to enter not lights I need to keep them between 3-4ft also how dark is dark enough I’ve hand built a sealed insulated enclosure using reflexix bubble insulation and pvc that is 6ft long 3 ft wide and 6 feet tall but a tiny amount of light does seep in some of the seems also my heater has a small red led nothing bright but it does give a feint glow all in all when lights are off and tents sealed it’s too dark to see the holes in a white 6 prong but it isn’t completely dark is this good enough

So can you enter this tent or what ever it is and seal it up look at it from inside out do you see light leaks? Tiny and i mean tiny pin holes not a issue in my book but i'm talking tiny. There should not be ANY kind of light on during darkness meaning that red heater light. If you got light issues in that grow area i'd do just auto flowers then no worry.

Great advice above, if you aren't able to get 100% darkness, auto flowers might be the best option for you. Light leaks can cause a plant to hermy if the genetic potential is there. If you immediately see any light leaks in your dark area upon entering, that is likely too much. Your eyes haven't adjusted to the darkness yet, so there is likely more light leaking than at first glance. If you are getting light leaks at the corners or seams, you can buy a foil tape, same size as duct tape but it is thin foil, which lets zero light through. So that stuff is good for sealing up corners and cracks.
