I am a second year grower and am using quart jars for curing. I don't have any tech for humidity control nor humidpacks. What's the best advice for having at least half way decent results? Thank you and I appreciate you.

That's an interesting question. I do not have a hack or tried and true method because I've used a hygrometer from day one. Others may have a better answer.
I asked google AI. Turns out there ways to measure humidity in a closed jar without a hygrometer. Google suggests the human hair hygrometer, the salt test and the condensation test. All have instructions to lengthy to list here but you may take a look.

i'm in the same boat as u bro, what i did was hung 'em 5 days in a cool dark room with fresh air but no air movement. when the outside of the buds felt dry i jarred them. i checked them every day and burped them the 1st week, after that i checked them w/ a smoke test and they seem fine. one thing to remember is u can always take more moisture out but if u overdry them its worse

The trick to a great cure is to dry them properly. To retain maximum terpines research suggests 7 days is the ideal dry time.
Hygrometers that drop in jars are cheap. The best ones for accuracy I have found come from cigar oasis at under $20 each on sale.
Cheap insurance against mold and will give tell you if you are drying correctly or not.

Think about much time, effort and $ investment you have in your grow. Curing is the "red zone" for a successful grow touchdown (US football analogy). I would not skimp on good cure practices.
A package of Humidipacs and cheap little hygrometers will run $25 - $30. I use them on every grow. Your decision of course.

It all depends on where you live. I live in the northern Rockies. Very low humidity, I dry my weed in the basement for 7 to 10 days, or until the smaller stems break and the big stems snap but don't break. Put them in a jar and burp them for a couple of days. That's it.

Best to invest in some of those small digital hydrometers for in the jar. Dry the plants until you think they are done, place in jars with hygrometer and see where they are at for moisture. If they are to moist, remove them from the jar and spread out on some brown paper grocery bags for 12 hours or so, put back in jars and measure. Repeat as needed. It is easier to have them to wet and have to remove them than it is to have them to dry and trying to rehydrate them. I like to target 56-58% humidity. If they are to wet when you try cure they risk mold and yak.
