Couple of points. Decarb occurs at all temps, even room temperature, it just takes a really really long time. You don't need above any temperature to start the process.
Adding butter does not stop the decarb process. When I make green butter I just add everything to the pot then heat for 4 hours. This even works fine if your only organic material is male fan leaves, you just need lots of them. Maybe it slows the process a bit but I don't know.
I only recently heard about lecithin on here recently.
The 4 hours of heat is for the decarb. Once at heat the butter is absorbed by the organic material. You then need to press it out to extract it from the organic material and this should be done at close to boiling point as it makes for easier extraction and a more complete extraction.
Voila! I've been using that method for over 20 years and it makes wicked butter, but it stinks the house out.
I used to have a graph showing decarb percentage relative to time and temperature. From memory 2 hours at 80 or 85â°C gave somewhere around 80 or 85% decarbed.

IDK. I'm kind of the same. I have a glass bong with a bubbler. I love the hard hit of the bong. I also like the Volcano but I don't use it everyday. I kind of move from one way to smoke or vape to another. I rotate between the bong, the Volcano, and reefers. Even if it's a bong day I may enjoy a reefer along the way. Same with the Volcano. I grind the flower with a small coffee grinder and/or a hand grinder. Either way it goes through the hand grinder twice. I like the way that packs. I'm experimenting with a more coarse grind for the Volcano, supposed to cut down on maintenance. I stumbled onto this on the S&B app heat the Volcano to 338, then progress in increments of nine until you reach 374 or your desired temp. Depending on the weed and time of day I can easily get lost along the way. You know, when you catch yourself just staring off into space? I've also been trying different blends of my grows just for grins. What an awesome plant.

Sounds like you got it dialled in. Do you find that with your hand grinder it clogs up with resin potentially loosing out on the best part? I prefer to use scissors or if it bush I just break little bits off and stick it in the cone piece.. and yea it's good mixing up strains in ya mull, helps from building up a tolerance too I reckon.

If you read up on current research you'll see a couple of different timeframes for decarb of THC and the other compounds. Decarbing in water has the advantage of temp control you cannot get with an oven. Additionally at temps around 95â°C you'll see that after a two hour period the decarb exceeds the efficacy of all other decarbs at higher temps for shorter periods for THC and this continues to improve up until about the 4 hour mark. Similar outcomes for the other cannabinoids/dols.
You lose terpines sure, but that's fine. Open systems have that draw back.You want to taste the biscuits, the cakes or muffins, not so much the weed I guess.

There is also another reaction at work given your decarbing in a polar solvent (water) called solvation which has the effect of stabilising the reactants.
Anyway, I stumbled across this method about 25 years ago and it works brilliantly with the addition of rapid cooling. It's taken science a while to catch up and explain what is happening and why it is so efficient. I tried many other methods including using the oven at higher temps but found this method to produce the best results for infusing butter, especially since it works so well on male fan leaves.
