COB LED Discussion

Hello.

Has anyone done any grows with the COB style LED's? I've started incorporating them into my hobby grows but I don't have a ton of empirical data yet as to the results. They're pretty easy to put together and seem incredibly bright. Just wondering if anyone out here has any experience with them.

I have ditched the blurple for CoB and Chilledlogic Pucks.

To date:
I have finished a previous grow with them and have almost completed a grow from seed.
The most noticable thing is the bud quality under these lights are amazing!

I am finding a bit of a learning curve, in getting the correct distance for seedling and flower.
It does change the grow environment as they run cooler, etc.

Check out member- mcubed476 for some insane grows with 55w CoBs.

Here's my first 100W attempt from the underside.

Why not use the lenses? I put together one of the "blurple" full spectrum led and got a 60 degree lens for it to see how well it would do for early veg from about 3' back. Now that I've seen the 60 degree in action, I was thinking of getting a 90 to compare, but now you've got me curious.

Oopsie. I thought when you said blurple, it was a play at the color of the light. I didn't realize it was a brand. I don't own one of those, I'm making mine from cheapest version of all parts from the ebay. Going to be some fun science.

I went and looked at mcubed476 and some of his work. He does good work with those 55W COB. I would have thought 55 was a bit lean for the space he grows, but his results speak for themselves.
