You want a perfectly fresh cut to root from. If the break was exposed to the air for some time prior to dipping in the rooting gel or nute mix immediately prior to planting you may need to make a nice fresh cut.
I cut on a 45â° angle and I also take strip's off the side of the stem. I do the cut directly below a node and cut those back flush with the stem. This pretty much maximises the surface area for new root growth resulting in a heap of roots. I dip immediately after cutting. The more time that the cuts are exposed to air the less roots.

I also keep a jar of cold water to drop clones in initially.
I then pluck them out of the water. And ya. What he said.

I was lucky and did exactly that. It’s been 3 days and so far so good
