Changing profile pic off iPhone7...no good...

how do you guys do it? Been at it half hour trying to change my avatar...my pics are bigger than 200x200 yes but when I try to resize them by dragging the corner it all goes to crap(see current picture). I can't drag that corner anywhere precise, and when I finally have a crop I like I click save and then it goes rogue on me and crops whatever it wants. Enlighten me peeps pretty please! It works fine off my pc btw.
 
I just tried to do this on my Android phone and I can instantly 100% see what you mean...

I'm really glad you @mentioned me, because it will help keep me focused. We're working on getting a mobile app to be able to access the forum, since it is obviously made for desktop and is hard to use on mobile. We got the app basically built (woo hoo!), and now we have to go through a 2-week application process to get on the iPhone app store, and we've got to get an iPhone to test on and make sure everything works, so I've been putting it off, but I want to get this done right away for everyone!

In the meantime, I found this website called Image Resize (http://imageresize.org/) and it will let you turn a photo into a 200x200 px pictures. I'm so sorry that this is the only option I know of, for now, to resize and crop an image to the right size on mobile. But here's how I did it on Android (I hope it works the same on iPhone).

How to Upload Mobile Picture and Resize to 200x200 pixels on ImageResize.org

Upload Picture
  1. Go to Image Resize (http://imageresize.org/)
  2. Select "Choose File" button and pick your image and click "Upload" button
Resize & Download
  1. Click checkbox next to "Crop Image"
  2. Choose "Aspect Ratio" of 1:1
  3. Click to Resize Image to "Custom Size" and choose 200 pixels for both width & height
  4. Use the interface to move the box around your picture and choose the part of the picture you want to use (it will stay square since the result has to be square, but you can make it bigger and smaller)
  5. Once you're done, click "Process Image" and then long-press to save your new picture. At this point it can be uploaded as your avatar picture on the forum
I'm so, so sorry that this is the only way I can think of to do it right now, and I will fill out the Apple Mobile App store developer application right now so we can start getting real mobile solutions, and I'll see if I can get my hands on someone's iPhone or iPad for a few days! When we started the forum we didn't realize what we were getting into from a technological standpoint, but I'm glad that everyone is telling us about things that aren't working correctly so we can try to get things fixed one by one.
 
Just curious neb why you chose to use no categories as the forum layout ?. I do like this particular style though as it gives a simple way to overview all the latest threads and keep up to date. I just feel however that it could possibly be improved. Other forums outside of this subject have layouts that more effeciently use screen space. For example most forums have a thread list count of around 20.
Also you may have to eventually think about thread categories. As the thread count per day increases, it can quite quickly throw out potentially fruitful topics as it falls down the page lists and get lost. Reddit had to go further beyond this as its numbers became too large to list categories and you have to essentially search for them.

Just some thoughts. I quite like it here as other forums are either way too big or way too old.

Thanks for the suggestions, we love getting feedback!

We have thought about categories, and go back and forth about adding more. It's tough to moderate the forum since it's basically just me and Sirius (plus all of you who have been amazing at making a great community and helping flag spammers), and we're afraid that the more separate places there are for people to talk, and the greater range of topics, the tougher it will be for us to moderate. It's cool that we have one place that's all growing, all the time, without anything else, so we can have an easy way to keep track of everything.

But we also understand that can't last forever if the forum keeps growing at the pace it has been (we only started it last September and now we have almost 2,500 members!). To start, we are thinking of adding a "Completed Grow Journal" category soon. I'm going to start approaching growers with completed grow journals about seeing if they want to get them moved there. The other main category we've considered is a "Help!" or beginner plant problem based section, since those are the most urgent posts. We recently added a "Help" tag, and we've seen some people have started using that, so we're seeing how that goes before adding a whole new section.

Definitely keep the suggestions coming, big or small, as it helps us figure out ways to improve the forum :)
 
Well thought out and i do agree, keep it simple, that way its simple to moderate and simple to navigate. Other forums may direct themselves as multifunctional with regards with what they provide. I could see this forum being a "share your thoughts" "ask for help" type of layout.
Anways sounds good ;)
 
LuckyAcres i have reason to wonder if it's an apple problem and/or a mobile problem. reason is bc i use only apple everything and i have had trouble with pics from jump. and there have been a handful of threads on pics uploading problems specifically and the apple users seem to always have troubles in the same places and where the PC users don't...which led me to think that there's at least some sort of apple affiliated glitch alongside any general pic associated problems. just my $.02
 
I'm using apple against my own free will, but I wouldn't be surprised, my 7 has tons of shitty glitches, the hype ain't what it is. I got the run around with catchonfire Samsung note, got ticked off, wife applied subtle pressure and bam I have an iPhone and look honey what I got you at the Apple Store for cheap, an iPad! Tons of glitches too, just like android. Only good thing is $10 a month gets me Apple Music, they got me now...
 
I've got one very small and minor thought. When I open the page I have to make sure to scroll off top banner real quick so kids don't see WEED in big letters across my screen. No biggie though. But it does seem like we all recognize you as GWE. Like I said just a thought and it doesn't keep me from constantly being on here. Love the site and the people
