Cattapillars

I found this on one of my Summer Lemons this morning. The leaf was folded over and it looked like spider web around the fold. I thought it was from a spider as I have seen a few small ones. I cut it off, opened it up and found this. No other ones found. Out door growers be on the look out this.

I've picked a few off both outdoor plants this summer. I don't want to spray now in flower. Just have to stay on it and hope they're not in the buds.

As an outdoor grower caterpillars were the bane of my existence. Months of careful cultivation only to have my crop ravaged by bud worms. Four years ago I built a "screen house" from PVC and mosquito netting around my grow and I have been 100% caterpillar and bug free since. Made a world of difference in the quantity and quality of my harvests.

Thats a killer idea, how are you braced for leprechauns?

I found if you have the space if you plant a few vegies specially green leafy ones down one end of your yard, and MJ the other end those cabbage moths etc tend to go for the veggies..

I'm a Viking, not a leprechaun. Vikings don't use ladders. We conquer... or something. Whatever we Vikings do, we do it without ladders. Usually. Unless there's a wall and we have to conquer whatever is on the other side and we can't find the door.

I usually grow in a 10' x 20' polytunnel greenhouse and found one caterpillar in 5 years. Now doing two plants outside, in ground photos and am fortunate to have 10+ little, 5-6 mm length, wasps residing in plants. They will lay an egg in any caterpillar, thus taking care of the problem
