Cat piss

My last couple of grows have been AK-48 from Nirvana and they really do smell like cat piss, especially during flower. I have seen comments from others that mention cat piss smell. I even went so far as to ask Nirvana about it and got a rather curt response to "keep my litter box out of grow room" but I don't have a cat!! I know of one other that mentioned cat piss smell and was growing Jock Horror from Nirvana but I don't know about the others. Anyone else out there run into this? If so, where did you get your seeds? I have seen Cat Piss strain seeds for sale on one other site but that is not the aroma I want or have ever smelled before.
 
I'd have a tough time tokin on that. Have never had a cat piss smell, but on my outdoor grows the stray cats are attracted during blooming and rub up against the plants. I ended up having to pick cat hair off. What a job!
 
Hi Puravida, I grew some Ak-48 and I found the smell of the bud to be citrusy ultimately but I do recall a period where there was a diesel like smell. It went away by harvest and the buds certainly never had that note. Is it a tomcat piss smell? If so, uuuughhhh :doubtful:
This said, I really loved the weed. Indeed, I nearly brought some AK-48 auto seeds this week until I realized I've already got a couple of years of seed supplies in the fridge!

As to the response, maybe it was dry Dutch humor rather than curtness. I emailed them about not having autos in their sale one time and got an answer I thought was a bit abrupt at first but on consideration I put it down to a humor translation error :)
 
I had the same thing with my Critical mass. For about 2 weeks in flower the cat piss smell was powerful. Two weeks later it has morphed into more of a diesel aroma.
