Carbon filter location

Hi guys, I'm planning to start growing for the first time as soon as I go back in Canada (August). Odor control is very important for me, as it's my landlord condition to accept the grow. So, I have a 600w HID lamp with air cooled reflector. Does doing the setup Filter -> Reflector -> fan -> out of tent will smell? I'm concerned about odor passing through the light where it would not pass through the filter. What about Reflector -> Fan -> out of tent -> filter?

I prefer the air leaving the tent to pass through the carbon filter last.

Where smell is a great concern I would also recommend setting up the filter at the end of the exhaust chain or spend the extra money to get a true inline filter so the air is scrubbed on its way out to wherever your dumping it. You may want to invest in a second exhaust fan and filter to scrub the air in the entire room while you have the tent open. The only time my setup leaks odor is when I open the tent and release the negative air pressure in the tent.

I would agree Korn and Obi-Wan, Filter last. I run both fan and filter outside my tent now..saves room inside, and if i want to open my tent a bit i just turn the fan up to keep negative pressure in there.
GobiWan if smell is a concern, and landlord has the last say..get a GOOD fan/filter and give the landlord a couple of buds every time rent is due​​​​​​​
