Cannaoil, coconut oil question.

After "very little" research ibe been unable to come up with the correct temperature/length to "cook" my bud.

The issue: everything I've read has said 225°-245°F for decarboxolating bud. I'm currently making cannaoil with unrefined coconut oil. My crockpot, on high setting, only heats to 198°F.

The question: If I cook it at this temp for 8 hours, is that enough to decarboxolate the bud while cooking, or should I roast in oven first before making cannaoil?

You guys are the best, TIA!

Personally I decarb in the oven at 220-240 for 40-60 minutes separately..Then I make butter/oil using a temp of 172d F for 4-5 hrs..(I like it strong). I use a Levo extraction machine, but before that I just used an oven or a crock pot..The temp knob on a crock pot or oven is not sensitive enough for me, so I set the temps on the oven with a laser temp gun.

Decarb all bud before making into edibles or oil.
The easiest way is to place the bud in an oven roasting bag- like the ones for turkey.
Let the bud cool down in the bag before adding bud to oil.

Or get a Nova decarboxylator machine if you want to preserve the terpenes. It's an awesome machine.

I toss mine in the crock pot on "warm" for 24 hrs, and it definitely does the trick. I find if I use a hotter temperature in the crock pot, then it can give a bad taste to it.
