I'd say growing in soil it makes no difference. Better worry more about getting too dry or wet. The plant is transpiring whether the lights are on or off. It just uses stored sugar for energy and growth when lights off and creates the sugars from excess energy after growth when lights are on. As I understand it.......

This. Although, environmental factors will increase or decrease transpiration rates. Plants sweat to cool, and vice versa, just like us. Water out, water in.
