Can there be too much light?

I'm using a 300W CMH and have (2) 300W LED's sitting cold. I'm thinking of re installing the LED's into the grow space. That would be, theoretically, 900W into a 3 x 2 x 7 grow space with two Water Farms.
300W CMH at 3100-3200K, 600W LED at 5000K (although this is questionable with my low end lights).
Distances will be 18-22" for LED and 24-28" for CMH.
About to go to Week 2 of the GH Trio feeding schedule with strong clones.
OK idea? Good idea? Bad idea? Wait till the change to 12/12 light schedule?
 
I shouldn't hurt anything as long as you don't put them too close to your plants and can control the extra heat that they will make. I would do it if they will all fit in the space.
 
metal halide would never work for me(they would stunt growth severely virtually killing the plants) hps would but this was 10 years ago(regardless of distance from plants,regardless of age of plants), i think what burny said might be lightly true. i did use to use hps 400w and 250w flawlessly but im going led this time just cant beat em for how long they last and how energy effecient they are, usually theres a footprint of what your supposed to follow for what light covers what sqaured footing like 250w would cover 2x3 foot no prob.just my 2 cents
 
I have leds in with my hps in bloom room and leds with my t5 in veg having the whole spectrum of usable light always made sense to me

Two already have roots in the nutrients after only 10 days.
 
315LEC/300CMH should be all you need for that space. I'd only increase light if you enrich the air with CO2 to help your plants be able to use more light.
 
CO2 is usually the last thing to add to a grow to improve results. Find out your limiting factor before thinking about adding more lights or CO2. Dialing in your grow environmental factors, nutrients and plant training are the first things to look at to maximise your current setup and growing potential. Strain is also important.

Thank you again for that information and link. The article seems to address light proximity more than high wattage. But it does address the need for balance between the fuel of the light and the other resources we supply the plant with. I think I'll put in one of the 300W LED light and see what that does. The plants are doing very well under the 300W CMH.
The genetics are good, although Lavender is a noted low yield plant. The Yvonna is supposed to be about double the yield.
