can 2 year old seeds expected to go bad? and also Can Rapid Rooters ever go bad?

I bought seeds from Nirvana (AK-48 fem) 2 years ago, and have had successful grows each year. This year a whole bunch of failures from the same seed batch (meaning that they sprout, turn yellow, fold over, and stall after many weeks) and the ONLY thing I can think of is that the seeds are simple too old now. They were stored in 70 F / 50% humidity basement environment.

1. So can seeds go bad in just 2 years when stored at room temp?

2. The only other variable I can think of is that my Rapid Rooters plugs. They have been stored in a zip lock bag for 2 years in the fridge (35 F). Could that be a problem and should I buy fresh rooters?

Every thing else has been the same. So want to ask specifically about these 2 questions.

Thanks all!

Seeds should be fine. They sprouted seeds found in the Pyramids. That said fresher seeds generally have better germination rates and degrade as they get older. But two years isnt that big a deal. Id guess its another issue.

I have a baggie of bag seed that I got when I smoked that MEX. stuff , that was at least 10 years ago and I wouldn't think twice about growing them, The only thing I've found is they take longer to soften up before splitting and growing tap roots, I just had a blueberry headband die on me last night I think I over watered it. I gave it 2 shot glasses of water with the other 3 autos and I had only given it one glass the day before. Seedling are pretty fragile to start with

I've got 2 seedlings now that took only 4 days to pop out of the dirt. The seeds were 2 to 3 years old.
