if u have hard water do u need to use calmag or is epsom salt enough on its own and has anyone made there own calmag and used thanks guys

If you want you can simply boil crushed egg shells in water. Add some Epsom and strain it off. DO NOT pour it full strength into your soil. 1/2 cup to a gallon of water is a good starting point.

My foliar spray bottles are homemade: one egg shells, one Epsom salt.

It seems as though Amazon won't ship Calmag to me, for some strange (unexplained) reason. Calmag is crucial for me, as I grow in coco-perlite.
Crucialbunny, will your recipe work for me?

I got my recipe online. Essentially there is not much difference in store bought and this except emulsifiers and stabilizers. A good shake takes care of that.

1. Crack all of your eggs and rinse out the shells. Leave the washed shells out to dry overnight. (or bake in the oven at 225 for an hour or so)

2. Use a rolling pin, hammer, mortar & pestle, anything to crush your dried eggshells into small pieces.

3. Weigh your crushed eggshells with a kitchen scale. This recipe calls for 30 grams of dried egg shells.

4. Measure out 15 grams of Epsom salt.

5. Use a large stock pot, add 1 gallon of water, dried eggshells and Epsom Salts. Cook on your stove and boil mixture for at least 5 minutes.

6.Turn off the flame cover with a lid. Let this sit for at least 24 hours. The eggshells and epsom salts will release their nutrients into the water during this time.

7. Strain any eggshells or debris out of the mixture.

8. You can water your plants with up to 1 1/2 cups to a gallon of water. (Start small kike 1/2 cup) You get a boost of calcium, magnesium and sulfur. This recipe makes 1 gallon of cal-mag booster, which is enough for 8 treatments. Store the remaining to use later.

i made mine same way but after taking out of oven and crushing put it into a cup say i had half a cup full of eggshell i would measure same amount of distilled vinegar put both in a container at least twice the size of amount u put in because it will bubble and fizz with chemical reaction leave for 2weeks then use 1ml to 1 litre of water its the chemicl reation turning it to neutral ph cant remember the full chemical reaction when u strain it at the end u can add same amount of vinegar do it one more time u need a lot of eggshells i blend mine down the smaller the better plus when u bake them u want them to go brown your burning off that membrane that sticks to shell hope this helps

If growing in soil, tap water has plenty of calcium already in it. Mag is in the nutes. It’s not necessary in this case. Most people don’t realize it’s a ph buffer, so if you have balanced ph in the soil, you don’t need it at all.

I grow in containers using tap water but have found that the added calcium mixed with magnesium helps the uptake of of all the other nutrients in the soil. I also use worm castings which works wonders in maintaining PH.
