Is there really still moonshiners out there that make a decent living doing that? I was unaware.

I feel like it needs to be legalized everywhere just so everyone has the right to grow without worrying about the police, and so people who enjoy cannabis stop getting their life ruined by jail time or even just a record. If you get a record for possession as a young adult it can keep you from getting certain types of jobs for the rest of your life and that's just messed up!
I do think we need to worry about big business, but I feel like they are going to get involved no matter what. What I think is really important is protecting people's right to grow. As long as we can grow we'll always have people saving and improving the genetics. Like microbreweries, we'll be able to have our own business for people who want something special or specific. In fact, our options will probably grow exponentially once everybody can finally share their cannabis genes openly. Just imagine what genes are hiding in the US but just aren't available in seed form for the rest of the world to enjoy.
What really scares me is states like Washington. They made recreational cannabis legal, but it's illegal to grow at home unless you're a medical patient or a licensed grower. You have to buy your cannabis from a big company. It's laws like that which will kill our community. We need to focus on protecting our right to grow and possess, more than anything. So in that way, I whole heartedly approve Proposition 64. Prop 19 failed in 2010 even though it was a way better law in basically every way. It didn't pass because growers paid money to oppose it. They wanted to protect themselves from competition. If we keep waiting for the perfect bill we're never going to get adult-use cannabis legalized for anyone.

I didn't know that was the law in Washington. Recreational legal but not growing your own. Now that is just not right!
It sounds like our very own nations Capitol, District of Columbia has the most lax marijuana laws so far. Isn't that ironic.

I have to say, that I don't know all the details of prop 64 since I don't live in Cali, so I may be wrong about my previous statement. I'm staying out of this debate.

I just thought the campaign add was desperate sounding. I can buy weed at our local dispensary now. I am still waiting for a joint to kill me.LOL
