can anyone give me answer of this question,,, ive got some babies and they are rooting, and ive put them into a dwc bubbler, with 1.0 on the stick, and after a while i noticed that the lower leaves were going yellow with brown spots,,, so i read up about it and got some cal mag, and added it to the water,, but when i checked it the EC read 1.6 on the stick,, so i have asked a few people and im getting all different answers,,, am i to leave it at 1.6??? or am i to use less A and B and add calmag to bring it to 1.0??? this also raises the question of adding pk as it does exactly the same as calmag,,, CAN SOMEONE PLEASE TELL ME WHICH WAY IM SUPPOSED TO DO IT AND PU MY MIND AT REST.../////??????

If your target EC is around 1.0 (or 500 PPM), and you wish to add some Cal-Mag to aid in some N/Ca deficiencies, then yes, you would lower your A & B a bit so that the Cal-Mag you add can add up to your target EC of 1.0. I believe 5 ml of Cal-Mag would equal about 0.5 EC (or 250 PPM).
As far as your last statement goes, I'm not quite certain I understand what you mean. Cal-Mag has N, Ca, Mg and a bit of Iron. Not sure how adding PK can help deficiencies that require adding Mg and maybe some Ca. Hope that helps a bit.

I agree with Cannabliss re hitting EC target. However, you shouldn't use Cal/Mag to adjust EC at the end... It should be added to the water first, before the base nutrients. At least that is the case with GH nutes.

If I may, the first to thing to know about "the stick" is that it's measuring how much electric current is flowing between the two pins. When you add more calcium and magnesium ions, conductivity increases a lot. In fact, the very dilute nute mix that gets pumped over my plant is only 0.8 EC (400 PPM) total. Half of that--0.4 EC--is just the CalMag that I add (and like Campesino says, I add that first because that that what General Hydroponics recommends).
So my nute water is already at 0.4 before I even add the FloraSeries, and that's completely normal. The N, P, K, and trace elements add the other 0.4 EC.
Maybe that helps? The take-home message here is that adding slug of CalMag always drives your EC up a lot.

No problem. But yea. next time just add a bit less of your bases A and B after adding your Cal-Mag. For example, your target EC is 1.0; first add the 0.5 or 0.6 of your Cal-Mag, then add the 0.5 worth of your base A and B. That should bring you much closer to your target EC. This is basically what you'll do with other supplements you'll probably be using to solve other deficiencies (if any). Cal-Mag is added before the base, but sometimes other supplements are added after the base. Depends on what deficiencies you're trying to solve. Good luck with your babies.
