I remember my pops telling me they were good and called em daddy long legs idk but I always look forward to ur advice/comments
 
Grand Daddy Long Legs are good, I have a few this year. Their teeth/fangs(?) are to short to bite you, or they would not be so friendly.
 
Today must be my lucky day I was cutting the grass and I saw something jump well now I have a wood frog in my garden for the ground daddy long legs up in the growth and dragon flys doin Ariels
 
We call them daddy long legs as well where I live in Canada (or tent spiders as that is where you find loads of them) but my understanding is that it is a name used on a few different kinds of insects and spiders in different areas. I don’t think the ones we have are capable of biting humans they just creep some people out. I leave dragon-flies and spiders alone in my outdoor grow - especially dragon flies - as they will eat the bugs that are problematic. that is great you have all of that wildlife in your garden - usually a good sign for a healthy ecosystem, which usually means good for your plants as well.
 
I have loads of dragon flies in the gardens right now, all sizes an colors. I love them and many swallowtail butterflies. Even had a small praying mantis pay a visit to a plant. Not too much bothersome bugs yet not even a catapiller like last year. It's been awful windy where i've placed them i don't like it but i can't find a spot to block the wind without shading the plants until my wood panel fence is complited then it blocks the wind from beating the shit out of them.
I hope it will be done by Tuesday of this week.
 
Interesting. I bet it is that still humid air before big storms that triggers bugs to hatch and therefore the dragonflies as well, to feed on them. They are neat bugs - nature is an intricate system. This year at the cottage we had a horde of shadflies show up one night with the rain (they are not normal on the lake where we are) and not half a day later there was a cloud of dragon flies. We watched a few of them hatch/molt/whatever it is they do when they change from weird beetle looking things into winged dragon flies.
