Buds not tight and compact.

long time lurker....love the site...registered today, very informative, thank you.

first time outdoor grow.
bag seed, from the grower. good stuff, with nice compact buds. Under the impression it was some sort of diesel or a cross.

I harvested 2 weeks ago, and have been drying. Trim and Jared yesterday. The buds are not compacted at all.....some might call them "fluffy".
I have never seen this.
Even before jarring, they produce a nice buzz and are not harsh.

Have I done something incorrectly......???
I harvested because I saw amber trichomes...now I'm thinking I harvested too early.

I am curious if anyone can tell me, why I don't have tightly compacted buds....???\

can anyone identify the strain....???

thanks in advance....

That happened to me on a indoor grow a couple of grows back. Been using the same seeds from the same seedbank. Same soil, nutes, the whole shebang, Nice big tops but fluffy. I just blamed it on the Phenothype. Because the next ones came out just like the previous once. I'm not sure if you can compare outdoor grow with indoor grow.

Welcome nice to have you here with us great place to lots of good people in here that will help u ,, I really don't know what happened to your bud but someone will tell u if thy know what happened ,, I just wanted to welcome you to the community ,, I'm a new grower only have 3 grows under my belt ,, nice having u here

Looking at the leaves,it looks like a sativa.Long thin leaves,Sativa's generally have a more airy bud structure than indicas.Sounds like you got it right.Pretty Plant.

Thank you all, I really appreciate it.

After much searching and reading, I was able to find some posts concerning "fluffy buds", and it appears to be, as Mike said, a sativa trait.
My plants parent (however that should be put), had tight buds.....I saw them...smoked them.
Early on, I tried to identify, and we thought it might be a cross.......but I really had no clue. That's a risk you take from bag seed.
I have never encountered a fluffy bud. Kind of a let down....

After looking at different pics of various strains, I thought my plant sort of looked like "sour diesel"..........any opinions....???

The day of harvest, I was seeing "some" amber trichomes, but just a few.....anyone have an opinion on if I harvested too early....??
thanks

If you see Amber trichomes that's a sign that the thc has peaked and is going the other way,as in deterioration of the the. So from what I have read and heard you harvested about the right time.

It's probably a strain thing. Unless you went through a hot and/or humid spell. High heat and humidity can cause fluffy buds too. It looks like you're outdoor, so not much you can do. Need some more Indica genes in there to keep everything nice and tight.

thanks everyone...

I have it in jars, and will cure for another 10 days....hoping it will get better.
missing doting over my plant.
giving serious consideration to an indoor grow.
