Brown thumb grow

I used to pull up my plants and hang them upside down thinking that the resin from the roots and rest of the plant made the buds stronger. However everything I’ve read on here talks of cutting the plants down. So I’ll cut them down until I hear different.
 
I still pull and hang mine roots and all, if I dont they dry way to fast. I dont think it makes them any stronger, just take longer to dry.
 
Always hang them upside down, whole plant or just buds.

The dry & cure is just as important as the grow. Too fast and it'll be terrible. Over dried same.

Aim for starting the dry around 60⁰F and 60% RH. If you can get your dry room to there youd be wet trimming and hanging whole branches individually for 6 to 9 days depending on size and moisture content.
They appear to be ideal numbers. If you can't get close alter your harvest and trim to aim for a 7 day dry so if it's too hot or humidity too low perhaps dry trim instead or hang more of the plant to slow the dry down, ie. Whole plant with roots.

You're aiming for no lower than about 58% to no higher than 63% in the jars after 24hrs of being in a sealed mason jar.

Keep air movement to a minimum. The less the better but not none.

I remember reading about a banana but can’t find it now.
What is the significance of a banana (on a bud, not on cereal)?
edit: nevermind. I found it. It says heat or light stress, but I think it must be that I let the soil dry out during flowering phase. It was in a clay pot.

this plant gets this wilted look no more than 2 days after watering. (It looked this way yesterday and was watered 12-4. Today is 12-7.) I gave it 750ml on 12-4.
The time before, 11-30, I gave it 1500ml (then waited 4 days until 12-4, before the 750 ml watering). And it was wilted no more than 2 days after watering.
The problem is that the pot still feels heavy when the plant is wilted. I’ve been trying to ignore the wilting and give the plant time to absorb the water, assuming that the (heavy) water is void of oxygen. (The plant always perks up when I water it, but then is wilted again in 2 days or less.) And my other plants don’t wilt nearly as fast.
Any ideas as to what is causing this paradox? Remedies?
 
Are you saying to ignore that the pot feels too heavy and just water more often or do you think that a more frequent watering with less water will correct the problem?
Edit: do you think that the plant will still pull water through itself when wilted or does it need to be turgid for that?
Edit 2; I gave the plant 500ml this morning, 12-8, 4 days since the last watering, very wilted. The pot felt no lighter than yesterday. My guess is that the transpiration slows down a lot when the leaves wilt; that wilting is the plant’s way to conserve water.

are these two plants dying, and should be harvested now?
the menu says when no green leaves are left. There are green leaves, but not fan leaves, only “bud” leaves are green and only a few of those are completely green.
edit; the real question is will these plants continue maturing with the greenery they have left or is that over and the quality just going to get worse from here without healthy fan leaves? Trichomes are white with some turning brown but there are still some white pistils. That is the only reason I am waiting.

Well it appears to be under watered but it could be over watered, but I doubt it.

Read up on watering. Air pots make it a bit harder sometimes, I don't use them for that reason.
 
I went ahead and hung these 2 up to dry. I haven’t had a reference plant to go by (a healthy plant with green fan leaves at this stage of flowering). So I didn’t know how fast or slow a healthy plant matures. I just knew that these two were taking a long time. That and the stems were yellowish, fan leaves gone, and most bud leaves were only half green, and I figured it was better safe than sorry. I suspect that a few days from maximum potency doesn’t make much difference anyway. If anyone knows better please enlighten me.

Im trying your idea on several plants that feel too heavy for there “state of wilt”. I’ll let you know.
 
I just want to check to see if I am interpreting this correctly.
when I first put hygrometers in my jars the RH was 32%. With the moisture packs it is getting to the low 50’s.
My best guess is that I let it dry too long.
Am I correct that the relative humidity be around 55% in the jar from just the buds?
 
You massively overdried and probably too fast also..

Aim for 63% in the jars for joints. I go a bit lower when I'm just vaping, say 58..but no lower.
 
To double check; Are the figures you gave (e.g. 63% for joints) for just the buds by themselves, no moisture packs?

I dried these for 6 days and I’m thinking that 3 would be my next try. I have hygrometers now so I can find out. How many days do you dry your plants to have buds at 58-60% RH?
 
When I jar them I do not use any moisture or humidity packs, only the buds go in the jars and hygrometers. Once jars are stable at 63% or lower measured during the curing & burping process the hygrometers get swapped to other jars to ensure all jars are stable at a safe level.

I have never gotten mold in my jars even as high as 65% but that's risky. I tend to keep temps under 20⁰C during the cure and once curing is finished store them lower again. Treat the jars like a fine bottle of wine for best results but don't try drinking the buds.
 
How long do you leave the lids off when burping?

I couldn’t find under the hamburger what the exact purpose of burping is, so I don’t have a clue. That is; is the purpose just to exchange the air at the top of the container, or is it to exchange the air around each individual bud? If the former, a quick remove and replace is fine. If the latter, it would be necessary to dump the contents and reload each time.
 
I have a room I keep around 60% RH that I dry and cure in. Temps vary a bit 16 to 21⁰C depending on season.

If the jars are at or under 63% the lid comes off and the jar is held in front of a small fan and turned so I get full air changeover, so about 5 seconds or so. The purpose of curing is to refresh the O² in the jar and get rid of the biproducts curing releases into the jar, ethers etc..

If the reading is higher say 64 or 65 (ive never had higher than that) then I just sit them in the breeze for a few minutes or if only just harvested I'll tip the jar onto cardboard for an hour or two then re jar.

You want full air changeover, especially in the early days of curing because the O² in the jar is used up fast. I crack them twice a day sometimes in the first few days and as time goes by less and less until I put them into storage which is normally a few weeks to a couple of months.

I smell every jar the moment I open them. If you have a problem it will hit you hard with like, I think it's like an acetone stink. Healthy jars are just dank and the smell is addictive. Too fast or over dry it smells like hay or cut grass. Not at all appealing.
