The only leaves on the plant with yellow tips are the lower leaves. Is this a common problem with potted plants, over/ under watering and not a nutrient deficiency in need of correction?
 
That is my understanding, that overwatering often gives symptoms of nutrient deficiencies because the plant cannot obtain the nutrients.
My question is, to people with experience, is yellowing leaf tips like this a common problem and not really anything to worry about?
 
I trimmed off the damaged parts of leaves yesterday, following an article on potted plants. Nutrient burn or light burn don’t fit with this plant and I am hoping that this problem is not continuing. With the yellow led material gone I can tell much easier.
 
That’s good, because I just changed my timer to 12/12, from 16/8.
Something else along those same lines; the equinox is around September 22, and the nights continue to get longer after this. Based on that;
Do all cannabis strains flower at 12 hours darkness (or less)? Or is 12 hours darkness the minimum for flowering and some strains need more than 12 hours darkness?
 
It's kind of a baseline. At some point, less light will start flowering. But less light means less growing. So, you could go energy saver and do less light, but you would get less plant. You could do more light, but it not be enough darkness and run into revegging issues.
Using the more light, more plant principle, autos can grow 18/6 from seed to weed which makes for better auto weed than 12/12 auto weed.

I just set my timer to 12/12 for these two. (Obviously the one on the right is more full than the one on the left.) The left one was topped later and I haven’t tried LST on either. But, Do you think that I could gain more (enough to make it worth it) to LST the left hand plant, keeping it in vegetative for a while longer?
 
Different strains, yes? Just keep them as even as you can with LST and let them do their thing. They may have completely different structures.
 
I’ve got a 3 gallon fabric pot that feels light when I lift it and the top inch is almost dry so I’m pretty sure it needs watering. However the moisture meter reads “wet”, at mid level and below).
Should a moisture meter still read “wet” when it is time to water?
 
Terracotta is great for growing in. It breathes, it transpires and it cools the root mass.

Just for reference, this is the plant I was just now asking about watering and the moisture meter. I did ignore the meter and watered it thoroughly.
My question is about the yellow spots you see on the leaves, mostly along the center line. The chart and drop down menu lists watering, ph, or nutrients as a possible cause. However, ph is around 7, and nutrients should be good. The soil is a relatively fresh potting soil and my other plants do not have this problem. The older leaves do have the problem more than the newer leaves. Do you think that this may be a holdover problem from the plant being overwatered in its early life? (I don’t know that it I was, but it stands a good chance. The seed germinated 7/22. The plant was transplanted to 3 gallon on 9/26.)
