Brian Wilson, co-creator of iconic 1960s band The Beach Boys, dies aged 82​
First music I ever bought and memorized lyrics to was the album Surfer Girl. Got to digging the Beach Boys and Bob Marley when driving around town with my dad in the VW.

Born in 61, listened to both on the radio in the late 70's on 103.5 WIMZ and getting high as a kite cruising in my 66 Malibu. Dang it, another icon falls.

i wish i saved all my old records, between my sis and me we must've had a 1000 45's and albums, i'm pretty sure surfer girl was somewhere in the pile

Back in the early 90's a group of buddies and I stopped for breakfast in Bishop CA on way to Mammoth Lakes for some trout fishing. Directly across from our booth Brian and his mother were eating strawberry waffles. We let them eat in peace and when they got up to leave Brian tapped on our table and gave us a wink for allowing them a peaceful breakfast. He and his brothers were local boys to the South Bay growing up in Hawthorne.
