Boveda packs during curing?

I have flowers in jars, second week of cure, holding steady at about 55% RH. I have been burping 1-2x/day. I put 62% Boveda packs in them today figuring on at least one more week of cure. I am wondering if I should hold off on the Boveda packs until after the curing process is completed. What say the group here?

Yes, I have read the GWE tutorial several times.
 
I used the packs for the first time last year and was not pleased with the results. All my cured bud over time developed a tobacco brown color and seemed to have a harsh burn. I'm going back to my old method of soaking marble sized pumice stones in water over night and putting one in each curing jar.
 
I learned it from a grower I used to surf with back in the late 70's. He would cut a golf whiffle ball in half and put the stones in it and cure in 5 gallon glass jars sealed with wax paper and rubber bands. It was primitive but effective.
 
For 2 weeks into curing, 55% RH seems a bit low to me. I've used the Boveda 62% packs in the past to try and raise the RH when I thought it
had gotten a bit low during cure. Never used them for actual storage though. I'm 3 weeks into curing one of my batches and holding at 58%.
As others have mentioned, a general target for curing is 60/60. 60% RH and 60 degrees temps.
For long term storage I prefer somewhere closer to 57% RH
 
I stopped using the Boveda packs after I learned this hack from Mr.furley. Spritz the underneath side of the jar lid. Watch the hygrometer in the jar. The spritz will raise the RH to the low 60's. I tried this to eliminate the possibility that the Boveda packs negatively affect the buds, appearance, taste, or smell. I haven't looked back at the Boveda packs since doing this. I like to try and hit the 62% target for curing and storing.
 
I have to agree with others - those packs are worthless garbage. I tried them out in 2 of my jars once - the rest were done without. The two jars with packs tasted and smelled terrible compared to the natural ones. Never again! I really like the mist the lid idea posted above instead.
 
Never seen them inside a whiffle golf ball but that's a good idea, separation. I got pumice now for the whiffle golf ball .
 
Don't use the humidity packs.

At 2 weeks and 55% likely you may only need to crack once every week or 4.

55% is a low but good level to store long term, especially if you vape.

Don't try and bring them back up. No need.

They will likely need a lot more curing if you started burping around 55%. Depends of course on a few factors but I'd be keeping them in glass long term and just making sure the RH in the jar doesn't climb above 62ish....
 
Ok, thanks. That's a universal no. I had used them with my last stash and wondered why it never could achieve that dispensary smell despite good care and handling from day one. Must be the packets.
 
I've never used them in many years of growing. But that's so interesting about the smell being different when using the pkgs.
