Boveda humidity pack question

Hi guys. I'm wondering at what point do I put in the Boveda humidity packs. I think tomorrow maybe when I begin putting buds into jars. I bought the hygrometer thing that gwe recommended to fit inside a jar, but I only bought one and maybe should have bought as many jars as I have. But that said when do I put the Boveda packs in the jars?

Your jars will all be very close to the same humidity.
I put in the pack when I jar the buds.
I move my measuring device from jar to jar. Over the course of a day, you can check several jars with one device.
 
You wait until the humidity is 60 65% where? In the room? I am planning on putting them in the jars downstairs in the basement the same place that they are hanging in there humidity is around 40% down there. 67° degrees roughly, 40% humidity or relative humidity. I was going to cure these in the jars for about 2 weeks. Do I not need these? I have never done this before and have no idea what I'm doing and as a consequence of not , I am anxious about it.
 
Ok. Then I will do it that way. I will put the packing when I jar the buds and move the hygrometer around to check things out.
 
I work 2 to midnight 40 hours a week. I don't know how I'm going to be able to burp them several times a day. I'm the only one here I am by myself. Is this going to be an impossibility?
 
Honestly for the first 2 weeks the packs have no real benefit unless you've really over dried your buds. With fresh green bud or trim that you can use just like a humidity pack. Big stems still hold moisture too. It even tells you this in the tutorial, so I doubt there is any reason you should have to use them before the first 2 weeks. They're not meant to stabilize humidity only to assist in keeping it at the desired percentage as it dries. If the bud is over dry ( crumbly) the cure process ceases untill you add moisture and it makes for a sub par cure. Like the tutorial says you want to err on the side of wet buds to be jarred. As I was pointed out in another one of your posts about the brown bag...you want to "sweat" the moisture out and not completely evaporate it. The longer it takes to dry the better it gets imho. But the packs won't help till after 12-14 days. Maybe someone swears by them but I've pretty much found them to be useless up untill week 6. I've been trying to get a slower cure everytime in my jarring process but that's just my experience. ✌
 
It isn't that big of a deal you can leave the lids off the jars before you leave for work. Do you have anyone to put them back on? If not; no big deal. Put them in when the bigger stuff feels crispy or do the paperbag method like D.A.A.S.69 mentioned to you. You will want to stir them or rotate the bigger stuff from the bottom of the jar, maybe even leave the jar on its side. Keep it closed until you go to work before you stir. When you get back if they are dry on the outside put the lid on. Each time you open the jar it will need to be closed in lesser amounts of time. If they ate still moist this could be a good thing...just leave the jars open then. You may have to take them out before you go to bed and put them on a rack then. When you wake up if they're crispy enough to put back into the jar you're on the right track. After this you want to be careful of any amonia smell eminating from your jar, I guess this is where hygrometers for the jars are ideal. But you should be able to just leave them open for a few hours before you go to work each time. Hope this helps but that's what I would do. ✌.
 
When I 'burp' the jars, I just take the lid off, then use the lid like a fan to get an 'air exchange' in the jar, and seal it back up. Each jar is only open for about 15 seconds.
 
I followed your simplified method, after a week of air drying and 2 weeks in the jar with daily burping the rh stabilized around 60%, then inserted the 62paks and all is good. I now open them every few days to stir - the aroma is absolutely Pavlovian.
