Best pot size for autos?

I'm still a little ways off from finishing my first grow, but having ordered a bunch of auto seeds I'm already dreaming about my future grows. I'm curious what you've found works best for auto plants, as I feel the 7 gallon pots I'm using now might be a bit overkill. Am I wrong? Would 5 gallons be sufficient? Let me know what you've found in your travels. Thanks!

Depends how big you want them to get. Some like 3 gal, some like 5 gal.
My first auto grow was in plastic pots about 2.5gal I think they were (250mm/10" diameter)
My current grow is in plastic pots again but about 3.5gal this time (290mm/11.42")

got half pound from two plants in the 2.5gal pots under a 600hps in about 60-63 days from seed I think it was.

I have one plant ONLY it sits in a 3 and a half gal. DWC res. (by itself) I am using a 600 Watt MH lamp rated at 6K followed up by a 600 watt HPS lamp both on 24/7. Strain is called Critical mass.
