Autoflower Training Question

When is the right time to stop any/all LST or whatever training you re doing and just let it grow out? I have 2 strains - one auto blueberry which I have trained someone to look like a bush- im counting at least 10 bud sites in the 3 gallon pot. I am thinking to let her grow out as she should be ready 4 weeks from now and I wont want to train her any more unless its still within a good window.

The other auto is a critical-47 auto. Entirely different growing pattern. Shes growing straight up and getting very branchy- so I pulled her top down and shes sprouting like crazy. A week behind the blueberry- but shes a fast learner... same thing... should I keep her as low as I can till I have to let her go?

When I was looking for seed which to buy I picked the feminized over auto because they are programed to just grow and bloom , I read topping them messed up the cycle <--- sorry I can't be technical but it's a easy google on growweedeasy.com

She means the autos are programmed to just grow and bloom.

You are probably right, your window for training is much smaller with autos. Do what you can the first three weeks then let her go. I don't think that means you can't still try to manipulate new growth and defoliate.

I was afraid to do any training to my auto, as she was part of my first grow. I wasn't disappointed in her development. Nearly all her branches stretched up and out towards the light. This may very well be a strain specific thing as well.

You can definitely top an auto and train it throughout its whole grow. A guy in my grow group only grows autos...he gets 3-4 ounces every plant every time. He is the reason I decided to master the art of autos as well. I'm only five days in to my first auto and I plan on manipulating the Hell out of her. I'm not going to top her but I plan on bending her over on day ten. She will be grown totally horizontally...that's my plan anyway....always got to have a plan and stick with it.if you change your plan your results won't resemble your original ideal and you won't be satisfied. Even if your plan fails. I'd rather have a plan fail and know why it failed than just be unhappy with results and have no clue what you did and when.

My Auto is 4 weeks old- and when it reached between 16-18"-I bent her over to break the apical COLA.
Once I get a nice even canopy I let it go (auto or otherwise). I would not do any HST on an auto.

So as long as, you are clearly doing LST maneuvers- it really wouldn't matter.
The problems come when you use HST methods and the auto (or regular for that matter) does not have sufficient time to repair/recover itself , especially if something goes wrong.

At some point (around week 5 for auto's and 5th week of flower for others) I no longer move the plants and let them grow out buds.

AUTOS ARE FUN! I recommend the MI-5 series variety version and a big couch!. (have Dominoes number handy as well.)

Im really going to try and grow mostly autos. I did plant several photo fems, but all projects will be based on timing and autos- I do have a 12/12 tent that im using now for autos- but debating if needed anymore- I will post some pics later today. I was impressed with last nights growth. Im letting the bb auto sit and do her thing. Shes flowering ( my first technical grow ) right now and the other growing auto is a different strain and just sprouting branches and leaves everywhere. Ill be keeping her tied down likely as she will want to reach higher.

This is my 2nd grow and tried some LST this time. my first grow was bubblicious auto and it grew like a Christmas tree. This one I started bending and weighing down branches in the first 3 weeks. Definitely much shorter and bushier than the first grow. Hope it turns out well. :smile:
