This is the second time I've had this happen from the same batch of seeds. From tutorials on GWE, I've cut back on light and am trying to keep the 300 watt LED 10 to 14 inches from the top cola which has "clubbing" and new straight pistles coming out. I've cut out 4 bananas.
The plant is at it's projected 10 weeks today but not all the trichomes are cloudy yet. I'd like to let it go another week but wonder if I should harvest ASAP to prevent any seeds.
The other lights that I have besides the LED are a 40 W CFL & a 200W CFL. The temp stays at about 76 F.
Any thoughts as to cause or harvest recommendations?

I'm new at this site and first tried to write all the info as a tag, but it didn't go through. So, this seems better. 4 comments already, WOW.

I cut out 4 bananas, so I'm pretty sure it's hermie. Also the lead buds look more rounded than pointed and somehow different. Since it does look basically female I'm inclined to let it continue to develop, but I'm a bit nervous about it.

I see no signs of hermie. In your first picture, the close up the new tiny growth at nodes, they all have hairs coming from them, so they are not pollen sacs. I would not cut down early. If, and this is a big IF, you get a few seeds, so what. Don't compromise the quality of your harvest just so you don't get seeds. Another week is not going to make any difference, except a good difference in the quality of your bud.

A few nanners shouldn't hurt too bad. You might get a seed or 2 but no biggie...

FYI The nanners usually fall out during drying. I wouldn't bother picking them all out.

One of my outdoor autos last summer turned out hermie (I'm thinking due to stressful weather conditions, but whatever), so I picked off loads of immature pollen sacs daily for 3 weeks before harvest, and the buds never got pollinated. Extra work but worth it. 😊

I agree with the others I don't see any signs of it herming :) Do you have any pictures of one of the bananas?

If I set a MarsHydro 300w- less than 12" I get a flattening (clubbing) of the top bud- move the LED to 13" and it recovers!

I was told that the plant stops bud development when nanners appear, and that it sends out hormones to tell the rest of the plants to stop development.

dunno about autos but i myself would let it be a few seeds in my opinion would be good think we've all bought bags with seeds and still got stoned

I started out growing auto`s and found out that roughly half had unreliable strains insofar that roughly a third to a half of some either didn`t sprout or were genetically `weird` . This wasn`t that long ago either. 12/12`s much more stable. Mind you strains like Ice Breaker and Tutankhamun which are 12/12---unstable, shite growths so not just auto`s :)

PaganRich, what's been happening mate ? Seen any good bands lately ?
Been watching a golf tournament in Italy, today, and the weather looks wonderful. What the weather season where you live ?
You must be taking a break, I sure hope that you are doing well. I checked on those Redseeds, of your last grow, and they high as hell aint they? Im still gonna get a few though.
Later
