I just figured out what happened. You rooted in the cubes then you transplanted to soil. The first day or two during the transplant to soil you want the humidity to be way up. I place mine under the dome. Then remove the dome after 24 hours. ...if they start to slump, they go back under the dome for another 24 hours then repeat.

No way, they aren't bothered by the light at all.

All of these roots were grown under HPS pretty much 24/0.

These grew in the bowl which is dark but has a clear lid that allows lots of light in and is also under HPS 24 hours a day.

Water + light = algae.
Roots + light = dead plant over time.
What’s your take on this topic?
Unless you are purposely trying to prune the roots with the light, they do not like it. Plant roots grow downward toward the darkness, not towards the light like the leaves do.

I shouldn't have made a blanket statement like that. I can only say these roots were all grown in plain 6.5 ph tap water that has never been changed in a month and they've stayed under hps lighting in clear glass or a dark bowl with clear lid.

If there were decent levels of NPK we would likely have algae growth but when the water is pretty much void of nutrients that algae needs, it's not going to thrive.

I use plant tap water too. It’s an aero cloner. I can see algae growth on the top where the inserts fit into if I don’t consistently keep it clean. No NPK added.

Hmm, I'm getting interested now. How long does it take for you to see signs of algae growth after a good cleaning? I wonder if it has to do with the aeroponics vs stagnant water?

2-3 weeks or so. Yes, water can splash onto the top and leaving it there stagnant will eventually lead to algae.

Clones got a serious defoliation today. They seem super bushy and dense. Also a little more "woody" than the seeds. They are growing well that is for sure. Some LST as well. Using them to learn on has been a real eye opener.

Not sure what strain big these have huge leaves and thick branches

I have a Creme de la Chem that is 70/30 Indica/Sativa and looks just like that. Short, super bushy, wide leaves and tight node spacing. She is proving to be more difficult to train for me.

Lovely nothing better seeing this except maybe in my own tent LOL can't imagine that many I got 3 photo in my tent their hitting the walls now but there 3-4 months old. Looking great.
