Attack of the clones

Decided to try a manifold. In the process wanted to try and clone the tops. We'll see if they live.

Hey just to let you know, there are hormones inside that rooting gel that become activated when it touches the plant material.
Next time take a clean spoon and scoop out what you need for that day. If you need more, use another clean spoon to scoop more out. That gel only lasts so long so try to not let plant material contact it unless it is being used right away. Store any remaining in the refrigerator.

They don't look so good. I read that cloning the tops was a challenge. There were other cuttings I should have thought about using. We'll see if they can come back

Those clones had huge, heavy tops and when they started to go limp, they just laid right over. Are you trying to LST before it even has any roots? There is a good chance that they might bounce back, I've pulled cuttings out of the trash after several days and set them in water and as long as they weren't super crispy, they sprouted roots.

I topped four plants for a manifold. I trimmed to the third node and there were 6/7 nodes so those clones are the big tops. No LST yet at all. I will keep spraying and tending and see if they recover. maybe I should have kept them in water for a few days before trying to get them in the cubes?

Ok, looking again I can see now that you were trying to prop them up. I'm not very good at cloning so I just chuck them in water until they have roots then straight to soil. No more dome, peat pellets, misting, none of that. Best of all, no more stress or wondering if there are roots in that pellet. They get a cup of water to keep the stem wet, that's it, glance inside once a day to check the water level and see if there are any roots.

Three weeks later - They straightened up, grew roots and now are in pots. Some foliar spray feeding along the way helped them perk up. I thought for sure they were d-e-a-d, dead.

To get them to root, try just plain tap water. Rock wool works too but you have to soak it in 5.5 pH first. Otherwise will have issues.
Anyway you never want to add nitrogen (found in soil) to make them root. Nitrogen inhibits root growth.
