Air stone question

I'm ready to put my rockwool into hydroton and set up my DWC bucket. The Root Spa is what I got. Bad investment. The pump isn't great and the line is fed through the side and bottom of the bucket. All the bubbles are on one side of the bucket. I've decided to make a hole in the top and insert a grommet and line for a new air stone. What are some effective ways to keep the air stone from floating? Maybe just find some weights and apply some water proof adhesive?

The airstones I use don't float. I love them.

Otherwise I'd just use some waterproof putty or even caulk. Just gotta make sure it cures properly.

Consider a 2" or 4" cylinder airstone and it will sit on the bottom of the bucket

You can go on Amazon or eBay and order some stones. They are very cheap and they will sink. Consider putting in a little extra to get the more durable one (ones with a plastic cover work very well). Air stones tend to break easily.

Don't add chemicals (adhesives and caulking - I know they make stuff for aquariums but I am the one consuming the crop not a fish that you're never going to eat.) Do not add metals to your reservoir or anywhere in the system 304 stainless steel (or better) is the exception. Other metals can leach into the nutrient water, may cause imbalances and lockouts along with all sorts of salt deposition through electrolysis. Later you are going to blame health problems on the nutrient regime and miss the true culprit.

Air Stones large enough or designed properly and matched to an air pump properly don't float.
