Age of seeds

How old can our little cannabis seeds be and still be viable?
I was given a decent little container by Old Head. His story is that he's been collecting seeds for 30 years and that he and his son have their own little seed bank of nameless genetics. In the same container, one could be a week old, another might be years.
In separate germination attempts, 20 out of 20 seeds have germinated on towels. 9 of 10 have sprouted in soil. Everything that germinated was taken to seedlings. All of the remaining seedlings are healthy. As far as I can tell, all the plants are female.

That’s a great germination rate. For really old seeds I’ve seen people use gibberilic acid (ga3) mixed in the water used for soaking. Glad you don’t need it

Well, see, that's the thing. I don't know what's germinating! A seed from a bag seed may be genetics from an East Virginia supercrop of unknown fantasticity or badda+bing of tomacco.
Damn good germination rate, 'though. Ga3???
Without ordering seeds of an unknown age I will never know what sort of timeline to follow. For accuracy, that is.

That's OK- the plants will give you telltale signs of it's sex/maturity/harvest, etc.
Plants can not read a timeline!

I had found a sealed box with 35-36 yr old seeds and weed. So far with maybe 50 seeds, 10 turned the paper into mold and brown stains. Yep that is a real good germination rate
