After many delays the plant babies

Hit a roadblock with the reservoir change...my hydroguard is frozen solid. The little mini fridge I just bought was set way too cold.

I'm trying to decide if I can skip the hydroguard for a week...or let it thaw out and use it anyway or drive 15 miles and buy a replacement and do my change after work tomorrow.

The 5th reservoir in the back corner will get it's own 400w light.

I'd let it thaw, use it and contact Botanicare and ask if it's still good. It can't do any harm.

Or you can drive...

Letting it thaw under the grow light right now. I'm gonna use it and keep an eye on the roots. As long as they're thick and white I'm happy.

Gonna order some more just to be on the safe side.

These girls are growing so quickly I notice changes in just a few hours. I go to work or sleep and even more noticeable growth. Crazy fast growth. I took two pics of each plant. Side and top view. Not gonna post em all just a few.

It's astonishing to me how rapidly they grow.

I did a resevoir change and upped their nutes from 1/4 to 1/2. Got a 400 MH bulb on the way and the 5th pump too. They all get their new homes at the next res change. At the rate they're going though I'll be topping them by Thursday, 3 days to recover and then move into new res. Then my power bill gets retarded high until end of Veg and only severe head injury stupid high during flowering.

I'm slightly OCD so I literally have to lock myself out of the room and find something useful to do instead of staring at the plants and willing them to grow

Ian, I think the more quality time you spend with your plants, the better! Read to them, sing to them, play music, or just chill in there reading to yourself. I believe they love our guardian presence in the grow room. Sometimes me and the dog just chill in there, for a long time...

I might top them and start the manifolds tonight. They're big enough. I'll see when I get home from work (DJ at a gentlemans club)

Topped the girls and defoliated. Now we wait for the recovery.

Roots looks nice and white. Many tendrils from each plant are down to the water line. I've got to top off the res before leave for work around 515pm.

They go into their individual reservoirs this time Monday or Tuesday morning.

The next few days will tell me whether or not I've screwed them up.

The topping job looks really good, and I'm glad to hear the roots are white!!! You didn't screw up, they should bounce back with vigor.

Thank you!

This being my first grow since 96 I need to hear these reassurances.

Looking at the plants from one week ago compared to today (pre-topped), I am fascinated and astonished at the rapidity at which they grow.

I just examined where I made my cuts, and they are already (literally within 30 minutes) showing recovery.

I topped for the first time on one of my two grows, and the same thing happened. They just shot up like crazy afterwards. It is pretty amazing how fast they grow at times.

Like angel hair pasta. What's amusing to me is that CB1 was originally the strongest, now it is lagging behind the other 4. PM2 (whose roots are shown) already has the growth tips open and the next node coming in. CB2 and BN1&2 are about tied size wise.

I'm trying to decide which of the 5 will sit under the 400w either the strongest or the weakest as it will get the most light when the 2 600's are going too. As soon as my 5th water pump arrives they're going into their own homes and the rest of the lights come on.
