my gràndfather had a similar stove 😁 (in the parlour)
The kitchen had a big old wood fired range.
grandmother baked bread in it, until the late 70s (when they finally connected the electric stove LOL)

LurkingInTheGrass No, not in Canada. Have spent a lot of time though in the maritime provinces. Own some property at the northern tip of Cape Breton. Like stepping back in time up there, which I see as a good thing.

LurkingInTheGrass I think it's just beautiful country all up the Atlantic coast of Canada(haven't been to the left side). Seems like there is a slow recovery going on mostly due to immigration in the long left behind maritime provinces, especially PEI. I follow the news and have been to PEI, Newfoundland, NS, all up the coast. When I was young we did many camping trips all through the area. The property I have was bought by my parents back in 1972, I think it was for $500!..Have paid much more in property tax over the years than the purchase price (ha,ha). I haven't seen it in quite some time and am about due for a trip, maybe this summer. As it sits now my niece and nephew will inherit it when I'm gone. It's north of the Highlands park, near the community center in St Margaret Village, maybe I can trade it for a dual citizenship?

Corogold Are you in NZ? My folks rented a small camper and spent a month traveling around NZ--they loved it. They went during the cheaper off season period, was pretty reasonable actually. All the best!!

alltatup That is a really cool picture, did you take that one? Looks like it's taken from a much higher elevation. Almost looks like a painting.
all the best

We are under a flood warning right now; I've never seen the river this swollen. All that land going back in the middle of the pic is usually dry.

damn can't see pics alltatup. it's a scary site being helpless looking at housing ,trees and debris piles floating. We've had the river in the middle of our yard in 1996 was a mess lost short fence which we've replaced but the debris cleanup was awful.
