BillyKidd, the mixed sentiment about MG is what stands out to me. If you google about it, you find stories about "smoking a bowl was like smoking fireworks. Full of chemicals and a bad taste." And then there are others who have had no such experience whatsoever. They grow with it on a continuing basis, liking the results. They often can't participate on forums. A few years ago I saw a couple people on trollitup who would occasional chime in that they use MG (organic choice potting mix, if I recall). This was usually in response to cacophony of "never use MG, you'll kill yourself" and lessor hysterics about it not being made for cannabis. I felt sorry for those guys. Instead of being *excited* about people finding a way to use it successfully (or, the product being reformulated, not as problematic as it was in 1988?), they were part of the "out group." Lurking in the shadows. Afraid of the clique coming down on them for invalidating the familiar rhetoric.
I've never understood that. "My opinion about something means you *can't* have a good experience. It's not allowed." I see far more people having severe problems with Fire Fox Farm.
Nobody goes gaga about it being unsuitable. But, some guy's growing a killer plant (like the OP) and "it's gonna taste like crap. Don't listen to the people who have had good experiences. You need to *dread* your upcoming harvest. I would take that plant and drop it off on the side of the road somewhere." (ha). That is messed up beyond belief.
I want to grow one myself in the flagship "Potting Mix" (you and the OP are growing in. MG's product names are often confusing. Naming one product just "Potting Mix" while there are other pottig mixes makes it hard to refer to. "The potting mix potting mix."). But, I've got a couple more ideas for the cactus potting mix. Maybe I could fit a different potting mix in with the next cactus mix grow. I'm just playing around though. I hate to make it complicated, doing too much.
I'd really like to have my own first-hand experience with that "Potting Mix" product. (But, I would want to mix it with MG Organic Choice potting mix because I do think the strength is problematic. It would be hard to grow in it unmodified, just because I already have that idea to improve it.).
