Hi all.
been reading for weeks my heads bursting with info and screaming questions at me but i try to restrain my self to a few basic qs. It will be my first grow sick of price have to pay for unidentified weed which i smoke to help with mental health. I read the costing guide is all i have to do is change $0.25 to £0.0889 my uk cost per kwh? Maths not my strong point i did this sum but it was working out at a third of your costs which i don't mind if its correct as it going to be even cheaper.

i decided on 1.2mx1.2mx2m tent and if my electric sum is correct going to use a 600w hps i currently reading the Top-Fed DWC Cannabis Setup Guide - Bubbleponics how many plants would be ideal for this space?

is this a good starting point or should i reconsider a different set up?

and what yeilds could i expect from this set up when i get hang off it?

if you veg for 18 hours per day it will cost you per month
£0.0889 x 18 x 30 (days in a month) x 0.6 (600W is 0.6kW) = £28.8036 for a month just for the light, not including fans

if you veg for 20 hours per day it will cost £32 a month just for the light

If you veg for 24 hours per day it will cost you £38.4 a month just for the light

during flowering (if you grow autos not photos) lights will only be on for 12 hours a day so it will cost £19.2 a month just for the light

600W HPS is ideal for the 1.2x1.2 tent. For DWC you'll probably only want two plants but no more than 4 (4 would be very crowded) in that space and separate grow containers/buckets would be better so one plants roots don't choke out another plant and kill it.

With high yielding strains and good experience with that setup and growing in general you can potentially yield 1-1.4lbs per grow in there but obviously you probably wont get that for a while. A good first grow should get you at least half a pound.

Thanks OzBud. Thats what i worked out just seemed too cheap to me.

would you recommend autos? Any particular strain that is more suit to amateurs?

I think i go with 3 hopefully i get one to full term and if i get 3 bonus. I going into this with low expectations. Been looking at seeds and thinking if i get 10% of what they claim i would be chuffed first time growing anything. Well i had a cactus once😂

What they claim...is plants...plural... under one light in a m2..meaning 3x3 area...

I would certainly recommend autos as they're fast growing and you don't have to worry about switching to 12/12 for flower or worry about light leaks preventing the plants from flowering properly. You can check on them any time of the day.

However, autos start flowering automatically after 3-4 weeks, your plant needs to get off to a good healthy start. If it runs into serious problems it will start flowering on its own and remain small and not produce well.

With photos you can control how tall/wide/healthy the plant is before flowering and only make the switch to flowering once you're ready.
Autos will typically get you from seed to harvest quicker.

Indica or indica dominant strains would probably be easier for beginners, tall sativas can be a bit tricky or grow out of control but that doesn't mean a beginner cant do well with them.

If you go through a good seedbank like seedsman.com, quite often in the strain descriptions they mention if it's an easy strain to grow for beginners but just because they don't mention it doesn't mean it will be tricky. You can also use the search function to narrow down what you're liking for

thc/cbd content
feminized/regular
plant height
yield etc
