400w or 600w for veg?

i’m swapping my LED for an HPS lamp, mainly because im struggling to keep the heat up and having to use heaters to stop it from getting too cold. For the extra money I’m spending on heaters I might as well run a 600w HPS instead and get better yields (hopefully!). As I’m still in veg is it worth running a 600w MH lamp or should I just use a 400w to save a bit of money? I’ve got a dimmable ballast so I can run a 400w MH bulb for veg then fit a 600w HPS for flower.

It depends on ur grow space in veg u want 50watts per sqf then in flower u want 100w per sqf

P.s u can run hids and leds at the same time thats what I would recomend.

Evening Kobayashi, man you've got a nice light now, not knocking your LED, I'm just saying.
I can't remember what size your tent is
But you don't really need 600 watts to veg. with, if they were mine I might use the LED for that, then use the 600Hps for flower.
But mostly you want about double the watts for flower than you do for veg.
Your gonna do fine with your new light.

400w hid is fine for a 1sqm tent it should give u the heat u need as well. happy growing

I use 400 veg @ 75% on ballast., 600 watt full power in 4 by 4. Temp stays in the high 70's low 80 range. Average grow around 12 oz. on 1 plant. I buy cheap veg lights, spend my money on the bloom bulbs.
