12/12 lighting question

Simple question - I hope!
I've just seen some tiny pistils develop on several nodes.
So PHEW! they're feminine and
YIPEE! they're starting to flower.

Is this the time to switch from 16/8 to 12/12 lighting?

It’s pre flowering. You can but don’t *have* to flip. What’s the age of these plants? When you flip is always up to you. Ive run photoperiods from start at 12/12, rarely but the plants deliver anyway (not a great amount but if have a bag or mystery seed it can quality test). I’ve run photoperiods in veg state for 6 months. Longer in veg -> greater yield

My SOP is flip when she’s one meter tall. But I’ve done other. One meter is typical though. Important to know: the plant is always trained, lately by FIM. If I manifold that’s another discussion

Ah! I knew it wasn't a simple question. And it's a bit more complicated
There are two plants under the same light, both in their 5th week
Both are autos. Only one has pistils - the taller one (about 12 inches) which is a couple of inches higher than the other.

My gut feeling, based on the above is to maintain 16/8 at least until the smaller plant shows signs of flowering.

if they're autos *don't change the light schedule*, they will "flip" on their own. Keep at 18 hrs of light or longer. There are some who contend plants need "rest" (i.e., don't use 24 hours of light). It may be true they need rest but I have never seen scientific evidence proving that

So what you're saying, Peter, is simply keep them in the same routine till harvest? (And maybe raise the lights in flowering?)

My LED calls for less distance during flower,
I would have autos on 20/4, but thats me.

Still curious about this time set of 16/8 for autos? I do mine Rwise on 20/4. Yes a photo of this would be good, not pink LOL

Those aren’t pistils dude. I can’t remember the name but those are just where a node forms. Check out the main gwe site, all the info you’ll need is there.

If I'm reading that diagram correctly, a pistil consists of ovule, pyle and stigmas, and what I'm seeing poking out are stigmas?
