Looks like sativa! 
They don't look too bushy to me. Just make sure you have good air flow. Remember that as Nebula says you don't get a lot of new leaves after you get into flower, so you want to conserve what you have. FWIW, my standard for defoliating during flower is to remove leaves that are damaged, blocking good air flow, permanently in the shade, or shading a flower.
