  • Hi roots. Haven't said hi or begged you for some of your knowledge in a little while. Hope your doing well. My first three turned out very well.these are my 2nd batch. 3 purple kush. Got a couple weeks or so left i think.Seem like they doing good. The growing part seems fairly easy. I struggled some with the drying and curing but I will learn. I've read a fair amount about temp and humidity for drying. If you don't mind I'm curious what you think is the best .I've followed your advice so far and am totally happy with the results I have gotten. Anyway keep that growing going and have a good one

    Looking good my Brother!!

For dry and cure it's pretty straight forward., Ideal is 60°/60%.

The last run I did my specs were 70°/60% and they came out great.

I will say that it's better to jar or bag them too early than too late. You can continue drying them if they are still a bit wet but if they are a bit dry you'll have to try and rehydrate them with either a piece of lettuce or orange peel in the bag. If I have them in a jar and they got a bit dry I'll spray the lid of the jar with a couple spritzes of water and put the lid back on. That will usually rehydrate them a few percent.

Yep,that kinda sounds like what I been reading.Alot too learn with indoor grows. Back in my outdoor days I'd cut it when it looked ready, hang it in the closet till it looked ready, and smoke it. Indoors is the way to go though. You have control over everything. Just got a new air conditioner, dehumidifier for my room. Hopefully I can keep the temps down a little better now. Anyway, thanks again for your input and have a good one
Brother I can't figure out how to reply to your DM, but THANK you. That's awesome and will be really helpful. Really appreciate you taking the time to spread some knowledge.

I'm growing some autos organically in soil also, just trying to figure out what I like best. I'm kind of into how science based DWC is so far.
Thanks again and good luck with your grows, cheers

No worries Brother! No such thing as a dumb question.
Hey roots. How goes it? Hope your doing well. Since you were so kind and gave me advice a few times over the last few months,I just wanted to show you some results. First one picked, dried and put in jars today. 7 oz and 21 grams. Might have dried it a little to long but live and learn. Got 2 left and will be cutting soon. Your advice was greatly appreciated and the results show. Anyway, have a good one and good growing to ya

It's been fun. It was fun back in the 1980s too. Just a little more stressful and never under lights. Again, thanks for your advice. Ill probably be asking for more in the upcoming months. I got some photos growing now. Gonna try and learn how the light thing works. Anyway, have a good one
Hi roots, hope your doing well. Think I am getting close to the end with this one. Hoping the yellowing is just the end. She gets same as the other 2 and they look fine. Couple questions if you don't mind. I think I am seeing a little amber color in the one pic.what do you think? Most important one though is about flushing. I use general hydroponics trio and the mag stuff. What is your opinion about flushing? Read a few opinions for and a few against. So far,all of your opinions have helped me. Thanks in advance

I do see a few just starting to form. Give a little more time and once you get around 10% - 20% amber you should be good.

You can harvest early also. It just gives you a slightly different effect. All milky trichomes with no amber will give you a more uplifting effect whereas lots of amber trichomes will give you a more couch lock effect.

Flushing gets thrown around alot but it means different things to different people. Most of the time I read people saying they want to flush either because they're plant got over fertilized and they need to wash out the NPK in the soil to reduce the amount toxicity to the plant or they do it towards the end of harvest. The former is a legitimate use but should only be done as a last resort. Better to bone up on watering practices and nutrient ratios then have to do that. The latter, IMO, is broscience. Many talk about how they want to flush out the nutrients in the plant for a smoother smoke or they don't want to smoke nutrients. Magnesium is a nutrient and is vital to have in your ready to smoke flower. If not your flower won't stay lit. I don't think flushing in that context does anything in regard to what the user thinks it's doing. What you want to do if you want to reduce the amount of nutrient ions in the plant when you harvest is to taper down the nutrient solutions you are giving the plant. For example, in my grows I measure nutrient strength using PPM on a 500 scale. In veg I'll go as high as 1200ppm but in flower I only go as high as 1000 ppm. The last 4 - 5 weeks I start reducing the concentration of nutrient in the water by dropping PPM between 100 - 200 ppm a week. By the time I get to the last week I'm essentially giving them pure water.

Thanks, I'll keep the ppm thing in mind for the other two. They got a month or more to go. I was checking that number and it was usually close to 1000 or so. My first one here so I'm kinda satisfied . Looks like I should get at least 1oz or a little more. Sorry to bug ya but I just was thinking about drying. How important is darkness when it comes to drying. My room where I am growing has the humidity and temp about the right range. My other two are still in the box I built so I can't put it in there and close the door and turn off the lights. Just trying to do everything as right as I can. You have been a big help in my new growing adventure
Hey roots been a few weeks since I asked for your advice. This one is coming along nicely(I think). Only problem now is the next biggest one is barely just starting to flower. The 3rd one started a week or more ago. A 4x2 area is almost too small for 3 plants I am learning. Having fun learning though. You got any good ideas about how to keep them all light happy. Just got a 4x4 tent I will be using soon. Mostly wanted to say hey and give ya a progress report and thank you again for the advice you gave me

LOL! Not really. Just arrange them in a way that you get as much light raining down on the flowers as much as possilbe.

    They look great!!! Well Done!

Looking forward to seeing you do your thing in the 4 x 4!!
Hey again roots ruler. Trying to figure out sending pics. This one is 25 days out of the ground. The little leaf at the left is about 8in tall. Same seeds started the same time. Oh well. I got one I'm kinda feeling good about. Been doing a little last. Hope I am doing it the right way. You've been extremely helpful so far. If I could get your thoughts on what you see here. Vs 1500light at 50% about 14in over it. Starting to see the female signs. Yeah. When would you start increasing the light? Or if you see something I'm doing wrong, don't be afraid to tell me. It is a runtzs auto. Thanks

OK...for auto seeds you want to run your DLI at these levels.

Hey roots. The seeds I planted were runtzs auto from seed supreme. Thanks for the grow light meter article. That was a very good one. I have been using the Photone app and the numbers I am getting were all in the ballpark as to what it suggested. I tried training a little. I bent all the secondary branches down and spread them out so they would get as much light as possible. Really happy with that plant. It's 29days out of the ground today and is28 in.tall. Do you think I should remove the fan leaves that are blocking a little light or just leave them be. Have to travel for a week. Set up an automatic watering thing. Hopefully when I get back they will still be good. I was happy to just being able to post the photos. Maybe I'm learning something. Anyway thanks for the the input and good growing to ya
They can vary wildly. But as most cannabis are very resilient. I made a huge mistake very early. I am now thinking I may get 2 ounces each. Only week 1 so?. So how big? I am using 3 gallon pots and only 8 square feet. So I expect 4 ounces from the 2 autos but 2lb from the photo next crop.

Look at my grow 3 and 4. The plants were about 36 inches tall but got quite a few 4 ounce autos in 3 gallon pots.
